The retreat is so fantastic! We stayed for two nights, turned up on a dark and stormy evening and were greeted at our car and shown into the heated retreat with the 'fire' and heating on ready for arrival! EVERYTHING had been thought of and it just made our stay so special from the stocked fridge, to the toiletry's to the labeled cupboards and most importantly the tray for muddy boots!
Would highly recommend it for a relaxing country get away or foodie trip to River Cottage HQ!
Delighted that a wild and windy night found our Retreat comfy, warm and welcoming!
So glad you enjoyed your visit to nearby River Cottage HQ - there is just so much going on there these days I am amazed.
Very much hope to welcome you again!

"A wonderful place for couples to stay"
Set in a great location which is easy to find, The Retreat is a well equipped self catering cottage, perfect for that romantic weekend away. Joy really has thought of everything you might need, from salt and pepper to menus for local restaurants. Will definitely return and recommend to others.
Thank you for your helpful lines - we love to promote local restaurants - from the pub that serves food at the top of our road within walking distance to the more well known ones such as the Hix Oyster and Fish House in nearby Lyme Regis and the River Cottage Canteen in nearby Axminster.
Hope to see you again and thank you for choosing to stay with me!

"Wow Fantastic Accomadation, Great Host"
Wow what a great find. The retreat at Hedgehog Corner is just fantastic in everyway. It is very modern, very clean and had everything you need for a special stay. Our host Joy was exceptional. She took the time to explain everything and spent time giving us a rundown of where to go and what to do locally. All the advice was spot on. Great location for visiting Lyme Regis, but even better for visiting River Cottage, which is a short taxi ride away (need to book taxi before your stay numbers on Hedgehog Corner website) Plenty of good local pubs nearby Hunters Lodge is only 3mins walk away another great find. Reflective tabards and torch provided. All in all I can not rate this property highly enough.
What a lift to know our guests enjoyed their stay - please be assured a warm welcome awaits you should you return.
We are lucky to have Terry and his Taxi for a £15 return fare to River Cottage HQ - and good advice to book in advance. It's a popular place to visit for Dinner in the 17th Century Barn or take a cookery course year round!
Thank you for you fabulous review.

"An idyllic retreat"
My husband and i have just spent two nights away in this wonderful retreat. Set in idyllic surroundings the retreat offers the ultimate hideaway. Joy warmly welcomed us upon arrival and was an oracle of information regarding the local area. She really has thought of everything from visibility jackets complete with torches for walking to the pub to a digital photo frame and a delicious basket of homemade and local treats. An absolute gem of a place to which we will most definitely return.
It is heartening that our guests take the time to write a review and I am delighted our guests enjoyed their visit.
The Retreat is a true hideaway fully equipped with everything you would need for a break.
I am a true local and enjoy passing on hints and tips to our guests. I meet you personally on arrival which is a great opportunity to show you around the property and answer any questions you may have.
Thank you for your kind words.

"What a Joy ! (pun intended)"
Imagine arriving in a beautiful location, being met by a lovely, friendly lady who presents you with a freshly baked, home made, loaf of bread (still warm) - then leads you down a Lavender scented pathway to a luxurious apartment, equipped with literally everything you need, including a large comfortable bed, rainfall shower and a lovely breakfast basket full of goodies, all locally sourced. Imagine no more - welcome to The Retreat at Hedgehog Corner. A fantastic weekend celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary and so glad we came here. Will be looking to book again for a week's holiday.
Absolutely delighted to read your lines.
So glad the weekend was such a success for your 30th Anniversary.

We spent 2 nights at The Retreat at Hedgehog Corner and it was wonderful. Joy was fab giving advice in advance of our arrival and was always friendly and fun to talk to.
The Retreat itself is gorgeous - it has everything you need for a luxurious break - kitchen equipment is lovely for if you want to do any self catering and the breakfast basket was delicious - the homemade breads and jams were so yummy and there was plenty of it so we didn't feel like we needed to ration it across our stay! Extra thoughtful bits included a couple of pints of milk and a selection of tea's so after a 5 hour journey we could just sit down with a cuppa on arrival!
The living area is great and the reclining sofa is very comfy. Brilliant little seating area out the front and because the Retreat is tucked away it was private enough for us to sit out in the sun and enjoy our dinner.
The bedroom was extremely comfortable and it was a lovely extra thought for Joy to provide dressing gowns and slippers. Towels were also provided which was a real positive - we were in the area for a wedding so already had lots of luggage with our outfits etc so it saved having to transport them and then wash them all when we got home!
The bathroom was also lovely - underfloor heating and heated towel rail with a great shower.
Only thing that could have improved the stay was WiFi in the Retreat - you can get it by going round to reception which isn't far, but we did want to check a few things online in the evening, so only a very minor thing!
Dedicated parking spot is great - it wasn't too busy when we stayed but I can imagine that when it is busy the knowledge that you have a dedicated spot right by the cottage is good to know!
A family member was staying nearby in alternative accommodation and popped in for a cup of tea, and commented on how lovely it was at the retreat, and how she wished she was staying there too!
Overall, we can't wait to go back!! Thanks so much Joy for having us, and making our stay so comfortable.
Thank you so much for such lovely lines.
So glad you had such terrific weather for the wedding you attended at nearby River Cottage.
A lovely weekend for all of us! Delighted you are hoping to come back!

An excellent stay at the Retreat, sadly it was only for the one night. Hopefully we will go back in the future and would certainly recommend to others. The Retreat is very well equipped with everything… More

"Aptly named the Retreat"
We enjoyed a short break at the Retreat and would certainly recommend to others. The property is very well equipped (I think it is newly done), comfortable and spotlessly clean. Joy made us feel very welcome and had time to chat. She provides a generous breakfast hamper as well as milk, tea bags and real coffee, so if you eat out during the day, you really need bring very little with you in the way of food and provisions.
Outside there is a small private garden with chairs and a table - really enjoyed a few hours in the afternoon sunshine with the perfume from lavender beds wafting over.
Our experience was that the property was easy to find, being a few miles from Lyme Regis you don't have to negotiate traffic and narrow streets. Another plus is that the Retreat was quiet and peaceful, and with good parking.
Thank you for a review which succinctly sums up The Retreat.
Very kind of you to take the time and trouble to write a line for me.
