Opened March 2013, stylish eco friendly detached fully equipped private one bedroom cottage for adults with garden.

Ideal for uninterrupted privacy and peace, walking distance of Inn that serves food, shop and bus stop. 5 minutes drive to the coast at Lyme Regis, TVs River Cottage and superb Farm shop nearby to stock up on fresh local produce and provisions.

This stylish detached cottage all on one level with patio and private fenced garden in pretty rural surroundings overlooking a wooded copse that has bluebells in springtime and fields where deer can be spotted.

Personal welcome on arrival.

All linen & towels provided, plus "Light Breakfast Box" (see photo, 2 days supply) and useful items i.e. dishwasher tabs, loo rolls etc.

Patio with mosaic bistro table and chairs, BBQ area large garden with shrubbery of Heather & Lavender, well lit parking space and private entrance (with steps).

A spacious sitting area with 32" TV,DVD, feature wall fire with mood lighting, leather sofa with reclining seats.

The large open plan kitchen comes fully equipped with Dualit and Joseph Joseph utensils, dishwasher, oven, hob, washer drier, fridge freezer and built in microwave, large breakfast bar and bar stools.

The West Country / Dorset region

The Retreat (at Hedgehog Corner) tucked away for privacy and peace in the grounds of Hedgehog Corner is set in An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty here on the Devon Dorset border in the middle of the Jurassic World Heritage Coast which stretches for 95 miles recording 180 million years in time.

The Retreat is just a 5 minute drive to Lyme Regis an historic seaside town famous for its fossils with a sandy beach as well. Excellent walking inland and along the Coastal Path.

To the west are the seaside towns of Seaton, Beer, Branscombe, Exmouth & Sidmouth and travelling to the east along the South Dorset coast we have the nearby Chesil Beach, Abbotsbury, Portland with its new Olympic Marina and Weymouth. Inland Exmoor and Dartmoor can be visited in a day trip. For those who enjoy visiting National Trust locations and castles there is nearby Montecute Hous, Forde Abbey, Sherborne and Powderham Castles.

The Lyme Regis area

On our doorstep is the sea side town of Lyme Regis is famous for fossil hunting. Experts take out fossil hunting walks from Lyme Regis and nearby Charmouth. Pretty beach huts on the historic Monmouth Beach at Lyme and an area of sandy beach by the historic Cobb. You can while away the hours in the old town of Lyme with its Mill and enchanting back streets full of fascinating shops from the Micro Brewery and Cheesemonger to the art Galleries. Lyme Regis is the perfect place for a family holiday. The area is a foodies paradise with Mark Hix's Oyster and Fish House also in Lyme Regis and just 3 minutes drive away and TV chef Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's River Cottage for meals and events is just 3 minutes drive from Goodlands. At nearby Burton Bradstock a glorious beach with well known The Hive Beach Cafe.

Lots to see and do for children several nearby seaside towns, the Dinosaur Museum, Beer Caves, Pecorama, Cricket St. Thomas Wildlife Park, Sidmouth Donkey Sanctury and Seaton Tram are just an example of the nearby local attractions. Plenty of holiday information at the property. Joy, your Host who greets you personally on arrival, is a true local and font of information.

A congenial climate all year round and a great place for visiting with plenty to see and do all year around.

Hourly train service from London Waterloo to Axminster and then a 5 minute taxi ride or local bus to door.

2.5 miles from Axminster Train Station with a Bus Stop within walking distance (Number 31 from Axminster Train Station & Lyme Regis). No pavement between the property and pub or bus stop - we provide 2 luminous jackets.

Exeter Airport 45 minutes drive - local taxi service can collect - details on request.

The Retreat has its own well signed car parking space on the far left of the main car park.
