Set in a magical woodland setting our 7 glamping tents offer peace, tranquility and privacy as well as a level of comfort not normally associated with camping. Crafty Camping offers a unique atmosphere in which to unwind and relax. Our piping hot tree showers need to be experienced - particularly in the rain!

Craft courses are available for those that want to escape with a bit of green wood creativity but are by no means an essential part of the Crafty Camping experience.

Crafty Camping is not suitable for children due to unfenced ponds, open fire pits & other insurance issues.

Open all year round - all yurts etc have log burners, electric blankets and heated towel rails as well as electricity sockets for phone charging etc.

Further details outdoors

The woodland at crafty camping has been lovingly restored and managed creating a unique atmosphere that maintains the balance between a magical woodland wonderland and a practical working Glamping site with Boardwalks, dry paths, low level lighting and decks throughout. There is a communal yurt with traditional games, library and local information point as well as sheepskin rugs, sofas and bean bags. The fishing pond (not available in winter) is stocked with rainbow trout and the sauna yurt is tucked away on its own to offer a truly relaxing woodland experience.

Further details

There are 7 tents in all, each with a double bed, therefore it is suitable for a maximum of 7 adult couples.

We do accept stag and hen nights but on the very strict understanding that they are of the quiet and peace loving type! thge site works very well for groups that want to enjoy a natural and tranquil atmosphere and as a base for exploring the local area but is not suitable for wild parties - so its yes to sitting round the fire with a bottle of wine but no to amplified music, shouting and screaming!

The Dorset region

We are on the Dorset, Devon and Somerset border near Axminster and the Jurasic coast & Lyme Regis. We are in the area of outstanding beauty and are in a very rural countryside environment. We are about 10 miles from Bridport too.

Lyme Regis

River Cottage Canteen and River Cottage HQ are both nearby as well as the Mark Hix Restaurant and the Wild Garlic Restaurant in Beaminster. There is fossil hunting nearby on the Jurassic Coast and Forde Abbey and Gardens are just down the lane from the Crafty Camping. Electric bike tours can be arranged to explore the hills and vales in the area and craft courses can be arranged on site with owner Guy Mallinson. Guy and the site have been featured in a number of tv series including the BBC Mastercrafts series on wood craft.

"Comfort and relaxation in a nature setting"

The thought behind the set up and attention to detail is excellent. Basically this is glamping (so not basic at all) and you have a choice of varying but similar style accommodations. We stayed in a y… More
