About the home

Courthouse Farm is situated on the edge of the village of Whitchurch Canonicorum, in the peaceful, picturesque Marshwood Vale within an area of outstanding natural beauty. The West Dorset Coast is 3 miles from Courthouse so an ideal location for the perfect holiday. The church in Whitchurch Canonicorum has its own patron saint buried in a tomb within the church, and is noted for its healing powers.

The Dairy is a single storey barn conversion from the obsolete cow stall and dairy at Courthouse Farm.
All the original beams and trusses have been preserved and incorporated in the ceilings and the old windows and doors have been replaced by wooden stained doors and wooden windows with double glazing.
A wood burning stove with a large red brick fireplace installed for the ‘olde worlde’ feel.

The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 bath/shower rooms, an easy modern well equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge. There is a ramp to the front door and entrance lobby, leading to the lounge area. A fireplace with wood burning stove, 3 piece suite, settee, sofa bed and easy chairs, coffee tables, LCD digital TV with DVD and radio/ CD player. Open plan kitchen/diner with fitted units, electric cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, large fridge/freezer, 2 x microwaves, 2 x kettle, 2 x toaster, coffee maker, iron and board, table and 4 chairs, high chair, glasses, crockery, cutlery and all utensils are provided. The 18' x 10' double glazed Conservatory has 2 tables and chairs for 12, the doors lead to the private patio area and the lawn which is fenced and safe for children. Bedroom 1 has 1 double and 3 single divan beds, with a guests bed under 1 single, and a high ceiling with exposed beams. Bedroom 2 has 1 double divan bed, Bathroom near bedrooms 1 and 2 has a bath with a shower over, toilet, washbasin and shaver point/light. The Hallway at this end of the house has another entrance door from the park and a locking door to the main lounge area. Bedroom 3 has 2 single divan beds, Shower Room near the lounge and bedroom 3 has toilet, shower, washbasin, and shaver point Bedroom 4 has 1 double divan bed and an ensuite shower room with shower, toilet, washbasin and shaver point.

There is a shared Games/play barn which is 48'x25' has skittles, table tennis, 6'x3' snooker and pool tables, netball ring and darts board only , chairs and tables.

There are many places to visit locally including the Jurassic coastline, Lyme Regis, Charmouth, The Chesil Beach towards Abbotsbury with the Swannery, Children's farm and Gardens. Weymouth, the historic county town of Dorchester, Forde Abbey, and Beer model railway, caves and fishing village. Take a ride on the tram at Seaton and watch the wildlife in the Axe Estuary or visit the Donkey Sanctuary.
The market towns of Axminster and Bridport and the port of Westbay.
Walking is very popular along the coastal path to Golden Cap the highest point of the South Coast, or up to Pilsdon Pen one of the highest inland hills for spectacular views. Lots of local footpaths to explore, to the woods or along the River Char. Lamberts Castle, Charmouth Forest, Stonebarrow Hill and Langdon Woods are all places to park and walk or admire the views .
Horse riding, golf, swimming, fossil hunting, seaside sports and fishing all local.
Nearest bus stop A35 at Morcombelake, train station at Axminster and taxi available in the village.

The Lyme Regis / Whitchurch Canonicorum area

The church in Whitchurch Canonicorum has its own patron saint buried in a tomb within the church, and is noted for its healing powers. The Five Bells has an excellent reputation for a friendly pub that does meals and outside catering. During the year there are many activities in the Village Hall and a children's play area behind the hall open to all.

The farm is run with neighboring Cardsmill Farm, where guests can come and watch the milking, see baby calves, beef animals, sheep, and dogs. Lambing is usually between February and May. Watch sheep and cattle in the fields in spring and summer out over the garden fence. We also grow winter wheat, spring barley, forage maize and various crops for animal feed.

On the A35 between Bridport and Charmouth at Morcombelake, turn off to Whitchurch Canonicorum near Artwave. Follow this road for about 1 mile until a four cross road, here turn right and go past the Old Village School, now the Village Hall. Continue until you come to a turning on the left marked Bettiscombe and Marshwood, opposite the Berehayes Holiday Cottages. Take this left turn and Courthouse Farm is approximately 150 meters up this road on the left. Go into the yard and the Dairy is on the right nearest the lane. There is parking beside the games barn and next to the cattle shed.
