The Cottage, Forest of Dean
from £31 /night help
Cottage | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
The Cottage is an original 17th century farm workers cottage which still retains original features and character, but now also benefits from full central heating, a 'living flame fire' and an ensuite shower room. Quietly situated in its own enclosed garden, The Cottage is a delightful retreat for dog owners and non-dog owners alike, whatever the season. In summer, open the stable door and sit out in the garden at your own patio table. In winter, enjoy the warmth of the modern heating system and the ambience of a living flame fire.
The Cottage has an open plan lounge/ kitchen / dining room with a flat screen TV with Freeview and integral DVD player. There are also books and games for when you are ready to relax. The kitchen is well equipped with full size oven and hob, fridge with ice box, microwave, toaster, kettle etc. Washing machines, tumble drier and irons are conveniently located in the communal Laundry room (no charge).
Upstairs, The Cottage has one double bedroom with a shower room leading off. There are beautiful views from the bedroom windows of the Forest and to the Severn River. Bed linen and towels are provided. A cot, high chair and stairgate can be provided on request although, with an open staircase this cottage may not be suitable for adventurous crawlers!
Pets are welcome in this cottage.
There is free WiFi on site, but because of the thick walls of this cottage you may not be able to get a signal indoors.
There are spacious grounds surrounding The Cottage. The Cottage garden opens onto The Paddock, from which there is direct access into The Forest of Dean, an area abundant in footpaths and cycle tracks and home to deer, foxes, badgers and many other little animals, birds and butterflies.
The Forest of Dean also has a wealth of man-made attractions and activities, such as Clearwell Caves, Go Ape, Puzzelwood where Merlin and other films were shot, the Sculpture Trail, Tintern Abbey, Chepstow and Goodrich Castles, kayaking and canoeing on the River Wye, surfing or just watching the Severn Bore - a world famous phenomena.
We are also within easy reach of small and large towns and cities such as Lydney, Monmouth, Chepstow, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Bristol and Bath.

The Gloucestershire region
The Forest of Dean, an ancient oak woodland and an area of outstanding natural beauty, is situated in western Gloucestershire, between the River Severn and the River Wye and is bordered by South Wales and Herefordshire.
Here, life still goes on at a leisurely pace, the locals have time to be friendly and the scenery is amazing - from the views of the Wye Valley from The Rock to the moss covered magical trees of Puzzelwood, to the world-famous Severn Bore.
Visitors return time and time again, to walk, cycle, visit the many attractions or simply relax and recharge their batteries. The Forest of Dean is a new place to be explored every season with carpets of Bluebells in Spring, a cool canopy in summer, blazing colours in Autumn and spectacular hoar frosts in Winter.
