We have just completed the refurbishment of this house.

In addition the garden has been re-landscaped and a new heated swimming pool and jaccuzzi installed.

The villa has been newly furnished with light oak contemporary furniture.

On the first floor there is a lounge/dining area with two double doors to access the balcony with views towards the sea. There is a built in BBQ on the balcony and steps down to the pool and garden. There is a well fitted kitchen. The 1st bedroom and re-fitted en suite are on this floor (king size bed). The luxury ensuite has a double ended bath and separate walk in shower, newly fitted with contemporary tiling. There is also a separate cloakroom on the first floor.

The ground floor comprises of 2 spacious bedrooms (king size bed and 2 x single beds), refitted modern family bathroom with a shower bath and laundry room.

All windows from the lounge and bedrooms look out over the garden, pool and jacuzzi.

There are balconies leading from the first floor bedroom and lounge with attractive views to the sea and Rocha Negra (a dramatic volcanic rock formation) . There is access directly onto the terrace from the 2 lower bedrooms.

Clients will be met at the property on arrival by house managers during normal hours. A key safe is available for late arrivals - the manager will then visit clients the next day.

A 20% non-refundable deposit will usually be required at the time of booking with final payment being payable 8 weeks prior to the start of your holiday.

The Algarve region

The Western Algarve has a "Cornwall" feel with beautiful rock formations, sandy beaches and fishing villages.

The Algarve has something to offer everyone, tempting golf courses on which international tournaments are played, superb tennis and riding, and every water sport you can think of. There’s an excellent choice of holiday apartments and villas, and hotels which also provide first-rate business and conference facilities.

Walk through the busy local markets to choose from traditionally- made handicrafts such as matgrass baskets and rugs, beautiful hand-painted pottery and tiles, beaten copperware and intricate bobbin-lace. At night visit one of the many glittering casinos or clubs, or simply sit outside beneath the stars and sample some freshly-caught seafood.

Luz

The village of Praia Da Luz has a beautiful beach with water sports and rides available in the peak holiday months. There are bars, cafes and restaurants, 1 small nightclub and a cinema. There is large supermarket and 2 or 3 smaller food shops, a pharmacy and doctor's surgery.

Approxomately, 7 kms away is the larger town of Lagos with it's recently restored fish and meat market, fort and marina. Boat trips run from here around the coastline - dolphin spotting, visiting cave formations etc.

The centre of Lagos aslo has many restaurants, bars,etc - a pedestrian only square with street performers and market stalls.

"Great Villa. Great Pool. Great Holiday!"

I spent a fantastic week in Segunda Vida in mid September 2011. Our party comprised four adults and my kids (8 months and 3 years old). All 6 of us had an amazing holiday and the villa was an excellent base both in Praia Da Luz and for the surrounding area.

Accommodation:
The owner had recently completed a refurbishment of the villa which was immaculate and tastefully decorated throughout. The kitchen was well-supplied and a pleasure to cook in on the few occasions we did. The whole villa was spotlessly clean throughout. Although the marble and tiled surfaces everywhere looked great and helped keep the villa cool and airy, the downside (for us having a 8 month old with light sleeping habits!) was that the villa did conduct sound quite well which meant us having to be a little careful at the critical bed-time!

There is no integral air-con in the villa although I believe an ac unit can be provided by the owner on request. However, even on warm evenings with the bedroom doors open and the louvred-external doors closed and locked you can enjoy a pleasant draft whilst still being absolutely secure.

Pool and Garden:
In keeping with the refurbished villa, the garden grounds had also had a recent complete make-over including a heated pool and Jacuzzi. The installation had been impeccably completed and looked great. The heated pool was essential for us with the kids and while I'm sure this wouldn't be needed in the really hot months, in September when the nights are a little cooler it was great for keeping the temperature up so we got full use of the pool all week. The south-facing garden itself was neat and tidy with all the space you need for setting up the sun-loungers and catching the rays. After an afternoon at the beach, it was great to come back and relax in the early evening sun with a pre-dinner aperitif. The gate was also locked with a key and felt very secure.

Location:
The villa's location in the middle of Monte Lemos was good. It was far enough out of the town centre to feel quiet and exclusive but close enough to be within a pleasant 15 minute walk (about 1 km) to the beach, restaurants etc. Certainly the down-hill walk into town was less strenuous than the return journey and we often took the car to the beach if we had the kids and the buckets and spades etc to take care of. Although we enjoyed the walk, you should probably be aware of the distance involved if you are looking for a place which is within spitting-distance of the beach.

Equally importantly, the villa was only a 10-minute walk or 2 minute drive (down the R. Primeiro de Maio) to the excellent Baptista supermarket (which we visited daily for supplies and a quick stop-off for coffee, freshly squeezed OJ and excellent pastries).

Owner Customer Service:
The owner, Sue, was courteous and helpful throughout the whole booking process and was extremely candid about the ongoing renovation projects so that we were always aware of any niggles that there might be. As it turned out there was nothing to fear as the villa and garden were fully completed on our arrival. The few teething issues we did have with the Jacuzzi were fixed quickly and efficiently by the local pool company who were polite and professional at all times. Sue also returned our deposit to us very quickly on our arrival back in the UK and throughout the whole process was simple and easy, as it should be.

Summary:
We certainly intend to return to Segunda Vida. The accommodation provided by the villa is top-rate, the pool and jacuzzi are phenomenal and the location (for us) was great. It wasn't a hop, skip and jump into town but when you're on holiday and can take your time it didn't cause us any great concern. I would certainly advise having a car for the duration of your holiday but I suspect this will be the case for most people in any event. All-in-all a great holiday and one I hope to repeat in future.
