Cottage | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
The Gîte is a beautifully renovated 1 bedroom cottage, it sleeps 2/4 persons. It has a large bedroom with a seated area, kitchen, dining and sitting room area, with a bed settee, bathroom and separate WC. It has its own fenced and furnished garden with a barbecue.
It is surrounded by farmland and is the perfect location for a relaxing holiday away from the hustle, bustle and pollution of modern day life. The benefits are vast, you can sit out in the evening and appreciate the wonders of rural living. The sunsets are stunning and the skies at night are clear and full of stars. There is no light pollution to spoil this magical spectacle of the night sky. You can wander the lanes and tracks that surround the Gîte and obtain the full benefit of this beautiful part of France.
We are situated in the North West of the Limousin on the border between the Haute Vienne (Limousin) and the Vienne (Poitou-Charentes). We have easy access to all the Limousin Departments of Haute Vienne, Creuse and Corrèze and also the Vienne which is part of the Poitou-Charentes Region. If what you love is nature then you will love the Limousin and Poitou-Charentes regions.
Markets are held in all the local villages each week and the main regional market at Les Herolles is held on the 29th of each month. It is reported that Les Herolles is the largest market in France.
Chateaux, cathedrals and monuments are abundant in the area with the Chateau of Bourg-Archambault only 5 minutes drive.
The region's capital, Limoges, situated on the banks of the Vienne, is 1-hour drive south. It offers a magnificent cathedral and gardens, world famous porcelain and enamel, restaurants, theatres and a spectacular medieval quarter.
Wildlife abounds with birds of prey, pine martyns, deer and wild boar common in the areas adjacent to the gîte. The Brenne National Parks are 1-hour north and are famous for their abundant waterfowl. In the summer there is family horse racing at Le Dorat and Sports car and motorbike racing at the track near Isle Jourdain. There are music and dance festivals held at Bellac and Confolens. All the local towns have markets selling local produce all year round. They are more frequent during the summer months. A very large regional market takes place around the 29th of each month. Here you can buy anything from clothes, to food, to livestock and cookware. It is held in Les Herolles, which is 20 minutes drive away.
