A bijou apartment, comfortably furnished, comprising a large terrace with 360° views, spacious living room with galley kitchen, double bedroom and shower room.Access to the terrace is through French windows from the living room. The terrace has a built-in brick barbecue and is furnished with a generous table, chairs and loungers. Shade is provided.
The all-day sun shines on luxuriant white umbrellas, casting gentle shade over fruit bowls and prosecco waiting your return from the market, or from a cooling swim in one of the abundant river pools.The terrace barbecue adds special flavour to alfresco dining, whether by day with a chill glass of prosecco, or at night with a rustic country red.Casa Giulia is to be found at the end of the Via Chioppo, just off the Via del Borgo, Tavernelle’s medieval main street. Access to the apartment is by a wooden spiral staircase.

The Tuscany region
Tavernelle is located in Lunigiana, the most northern region of Tuscany, close to the mountains, the coast and the renaissance wonders of Florence, Siena and Lucca. The 60sq kilometres of surrounding forest provides some of the best trekking in northern Italy; comfortable refuges are available at higher levels, and the ski lifts provide summer access to the high paths, or sentieri above Lagestrello.
Lunigiana / Tavernelle, Tuscany area
Tavernelle lies on the Tavarone river, in the heart of historic northern Tuscany, set against a backdrop of the Tuscan-Emilian Appenine National Park. The village boasts two bars, two excellent restaurants, a weekend pizzeria, a butcher’s shop and grocery store. The river offers swimming in cold rock pools, sunning and scrambling upstream through the pools, eddies and falls.
Summer weekends bring heightened activity, with the ballo liscio, or ‘slow dance’ held beside the bar attracting all-comers. Al fresco dining reaches a climax during the annual Festa della Trota, held on the first weekend in August. The village is transformed into a medieval marketplace, and feasting takes place noon and evening in the village park. Visitors and locals alike throng to this annual festa to sample the best local fare and wine, trout, lamb, pastas and tortas.
Tavernelle is close to the Cinque Terre, Florence, Pisa, Lucca and La Spezia. The Gulf of Poets and the beautiful Lerici are thirty minutes away.

Tavernelle, which is situated in the beautiful region of Lunigiana is easily accessible by road, rail, or air.
Trains: to La Spezia or Aulla. Connections from Pisa, Rome, Florence, and Milan. There is a bus service from Aulla to Tavernelle
Car Hire: all the major companies have offices at Pisa and La Spezia
Air travel: Ryanair, British Airways, Alitalia and several other airlines fly directly to Pisa, Genoa and Bologna.
