Large holiday suite situated on Winfrith Heath in the Purbeck region of Dorset. It is only 4 miles from the coast at Durdle Door and nearby Lulworth Cove. New annexe, built in 2013.

We offer the facilities of a holiday let with the added bonus of a few basic groceries to start off the holiday.

Accommodation for 6 people in 3 rooms plus travel cot if required. We only rent the space for one couple, family or group at a time so guests are afforded complete privacy for their stay.

Guests have a large open plan lounge / dining and kitchen area with large bi fold doors opening up to a terrace with lovely Westerly views to Hardys monument and beautiful sunsets. From the lounge guests can see the free range chicken, with food available to feed them. We sometimes have sheep and horses.

One double room with ensuite shower room with rainfall shower. One twin, 3rd room with bunk beds. Additional bathroom for groups / families using 2 or more rooms.

We can provide equipment such as a steriliser, cot, activity mat and games so guests can travel as light as possible.

We also have a large field for those who wish to bring their horse and take advantage of the extensive bridleways in the area.

We are directly opposite heathland for bridleways and great walking. On a popular cycling route. Walking distance to two great pubs which are family friendly.

DVD player and games for wet weather.

We have a policy of no hidden costs. Linen, towels, cleaning products and final cleaning all included in our competitive price.

The Dorset region

On a rural heathland road giving direct access to bridleways and footpaths on the heath. Perfect for walkers and riders. Walking distance to newly refurbished pub with lovely pub garden and children's play area. On popular cycling route.

3 miles from the sea. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are the closest beaches.

Local vibrant village shop selling local produce including my cakes!

Near towns at Wareham, Dorchester and Poole with more extensive facilities.

Nearest train station is Wool.

Things to Do

We are situated within Purbeck often described as an island, but in reality it is 60 square miles of land that is surrounded almost completely by water, technically making it a peninsula.

There are castles, old churches, parks, and miles of shorelines (The Jurassic Coast) each section with its own unique features.You will find resort areas, like the traditional seaside resort of Swanage with its sandy beaches, the markets of Wareham and quaint villages with rustic country pubs.

To the West of Winfrith is the country market town of Dorchester with numerous shops, restaurants and a brand new cinema and restaurant complex at The Brewery. A market is held in Dorchester every Wednesday.

Weymouth is 9 miles away to the South West and is a typical seaside resort with a large sandy bay, large marina and harbour, amusement arcades and numerous pubs, restaurants and takeaways. A park and ride operates daily.

Beyond Weymouth is Portland, home of the 2012 Olympics. This is on a peninsular and has Portland Bill lighthouse which hosts guided tours.

More locally and across Dorset there are numerous footpaths, bridleways and cycle routes for the active tourist.

Thanks for taking the time to review the property. As stated before we will be looking to get blinds for the window. Apologies for the buggy- we had not used this for some time and hadn't realised we had lots of house martins nesting in the garage! Lovely to see but not the best house guests!

Thanks for your comments. As you and another guest have mentioned the heat, we will be looking into fitting a blind for the kitchen window. You and some of our other guests came during a particularly hot Summer!

I take on board your comments about the breakfast. I had reduced the amount put out as there has previously been a lot of wasted food.However I would have been more than happy to provide additional supplies. It is disapointing that you did not feel able to speak to me about this during your stay. Likewise the lack of the 6th chair was an oversight on my part, as I had borrowed it to read a meter and had forgooten to put it back. It would have been no trouble to get it for you and I apologise for this oversight.
I do feel the amount of crockery is sufficent (e.g. we supply 18 dinner plates, 17 side plates etc)and other guests have commented on how well equipped the property is. There is, as you mention, a dishwasher for guests use.
We will look into fitting a blind for the kitchen window and will in future provide an umbrella for the outside dining tables. You were fortunate to come during a particularly hot Summer in England! We have had the door fixed, and explained to you the problem when you arrived and the need to wait for a spcialist engineer.
We do ensure that none of our family or any other visitors go round the back of the annexe whilst guests are staying, to give guests their privacy. We feel it would be a shame to have blinds covering the massive bi-folding doors with such great views. If we do need to speak to guests, we always come and knock at the side door as we did during your stay.
Although we were away ourselves in Cornwall with the dog most of the week you were there, there was one night where she was left alone overnight which she had not experienced previously. I apologise if this disturbed you.
I hope you and your family enjoy the rest of your Summer and would like to thank you again for choosing to stay at Greenhills.
