The accommodation is a one bedroom self catering apartment in Italy with views of Lake Maggiore. It can sleep up a family of 4 as there is a double bed in the bedroom and a double sofabed in the lounge.

The Lombardy / Varese/Lake Maggiore region

As you are so close to Lake Maggiore there are plenty of things to do including walking, mountain biking, boat trips, shopping in Lugano. In the winter you can ski in the Swiss ski resort of San Bernardino, only an hour away by car.

Luino / Dumenza area

Dumenza is only a mile from the Swiss border and the Italian speaking Swiss town of Lugano is not far away. Lugano can be found on the shores of Lake Lugano.

There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance from the accommodation in Dumenza. There are plenty of bars & restaurants in Luino, by the lake. It is about 10 minute by car. There is also a bus service to Luino.

The best way to see the lake is to take one of the many inexpensive boat trips.
You can visit Isola Bella & Isola Madre by boat

Lugano by Lake Lugano, only 9 miles from Dumenza in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland

Connobio on the western shore - definitely worth visiting by boat

San Bernardino ski resort in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland - high in the Alps only an hour by car

An attractive place to visit is Locarno on the northern end of Lake Maggiore in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland


How to get there

Plane
Dumenza is only 45 minutes from Milan Malpensa airport. Easyjet have direct daily flights from Gatwick.

Car
If you would like to drive check the route planner . Please allow about 12 hour total driving time including stops. You will also need to including 1 overnight stop.

Train
Luino is less than 2 hours from Milano Centrale by train and then you can catch a bus to Dumenza (buses stop running at about 6pm)

Dumenza is in the mountain above Lake Maggiore, about 3 miles from town of Luino, which is on the lake. There is bus service to Luino. Only 1 mile from the Swiss Border. The average daily max in July is 27C or 81F

There are two restaurants (Ristorante Smeraldo & Osteria Vino Porcini) and a bar (Bar Sport) within walking distance of the apartments. The supermarket is only a couple of minutes walk from the apartment building. There is also a baker's (panificio) where you can buy bread milk cheese and most other essentials

There is also a pharmacy and a post office.

BOOKING & PAYMENT : If you would like to book your holiday accommodation please contact us as soon as possible.

In order to confirm your booking, please send a cheque in UK pounds payable to Sylvia Priest for a 50% deposit (non refundable) payable now with the balance due six weeks before the date of arrival. If your date of arrival is less than three months away or you prefer to pay by credit card please pay the full amount.

If you are booking from outside the UK or prefer to pay by credit card we can also email you an invoice so that you can pay securely by credit card using PayPal. You do not need to be a member of PayPal to pay by credit card. Please let us know how you will be paying. If you choose to pay by credit card please pay the full amount. Once we have received payment we will then send you full details of how to get to the accommodation.

To confirm the booking we must receive payment by return. Therefore if you chose to pay by credit card we must receive payment as soon as you receive the invoice by email. If you decide to pay by cheque we must receive it within 2 working days.

TRAVEL INSURANCE: Please ensure you have travel insurance for the dates you book as payment is non refundable.

EXTRA COSTS payable locally on arrival to the housekeeper:
End cleaning per flat: €50 (euros)
Refundable deposit (in lieu of any damages) €200 (euros)

Arrival time normally: 3 pm to 6 pm (please let us know when booking if you think you may be arriving outside these times)
Departure by 10 am
