15 minutes from Luganville, the capital of Espirito Santo,on 5 acres of manicured land, & 60 metres of absolute water front, you will find our house. which is built on the waters edge and boasts a 90 sq mtr.deck built over the water. Imagine sipping on a cocktail created at the bar built on the deck, taking in the serene scene of the lagoon & private jetty. Very safe swimming for toddlers, deeper waters await adults at the end of the jetty in the lagoon, even at low tide. You can swim with Teddy & Tommy, the two sea turtles when in residence who call the lagoon home or take a kayak (provided) trip and get a glimpse of pods of dugongs, a whale has even been spotted not too far from our house. Snorkel the magnificent coral and view the abundance of reef fish just a couple of hundred metres in front of our house.
Sipping cocktails on the deck, washing up, cooking, even sleeping, the view is of the ocean, and the sounds - gentle waves lapping against the sea wall.
It is a feeling of freedom to take a shower in the outside tropical garden area which is part of the house, only blue skies and trees above you, open but also very private.

The Espiritu Santo region
Situated on the largest of 83 islands making up Vanuatu is the beautiful island of Espirito Santo.
We had been visiting Port Vila, the capital of Vanuatu, over a 20 year period and enjoyed it immensely for the first 15 years. Then it became commercialised and overcrowded so we decided to visit Santo.
When Vanuatu is mentioned, people say they have been there, but on enquiring they think that Vanuatu is Port Vila, they have never heard of Santo, I only knew Santo because of its cattle, so when my husband suggested we go there I was hesitant. OMG, it is beautiful, lush, laid back and so serene.
Okay, it doesn't have tall buildings and crowds of people and there is potholes in the footpaths but it has magnificent blue water holes, it has amazing white sandy beaches and protected turquoise waters, it has the best scuba diving in the world, fishing is great and there is an abundance of colourful fish and coral to snorkel.
The local Ni- Vanuatu have been voted the happiest nation in the world many times, and they are.
Santo is a great holiday destination for singles, couples, families and honeymooners alike.
See you there.
The yearly weather pattern in Santo doesn't vary in temperature all that much. The perfect time to visit is April/May to October where the average temperature ranges from maximum of 28°C and an average minimum of 18 °C. It is wise to take a light cover up for night during this time. From November to March average maximum temperature is 30 °C and average minimum is 24°C.You can expect some showers during this 'green' season.
Things to do includes the Millennium Caves, moderate fitness is advised, the fun activity of floating down Mt Hope River visiting the three large blue water holes and if you are game swinging from ropes tied to trees from way above the water and landing in the water.
The famous Champagne Beach would have to be the nicest beach I have ever seen, The white sandy beach stretches for miles and the water is an amazing colour. A lot of the cruise ships anchor here for the night.
There is a variety of eating houses from beach cafes to a la carte restaurants from Japanese and Chinese eateries to cafes..
You can go on bush walk trails to historic places one being an aeroplane wreckage from World War 11. Santo had 100,000 American soldiers based on its island during this time. James A Michener was one such soldier, he was a lieutenant and it was this island that gave him the incentive to write 'The Tales of South Pacific' which ultimately was made into the stage play South Pacific'
It has been said that he wrote this book on the land we now own, but others claim it too and there is no documentation as to where he actually was when he wrote it. On certain days you can see clearly the fictitious island he named Bali Ha'i.. If there is a haze obscuring it you may not see it for weeks at a time, which is why he felt it was a magical island.

"A slice of paradise"
A Jetty, and a deck built over the water, not all that unusual in the South Pacific except at “The Jetty” you are not sharing! This was our 5th trip to Vanuatu in as many years, my partner and I … More
Thank you so much for your positive review. Our onsite manager reported to me that you were excellent guests. The house was clean and tidy when you left and you even replaced some items that were supplied for you. Not necessary, but thank you. I will be recommending you as a guest for any future holidays, but we would like to see you back at The Jetty.

Thank you so much Paul for your review. It was a pleasure having you and your family stay at The Jetty. The house was spotless when you left which wasn't a requirement of your rental, but was very much appreciated.
I am so sorry that the weather wasn't better for you, unusual for this time of year, no breeze and rain about attracted far more mosquito's than is usual, however I take on board your suggestion of a screen door between the bathroom and outdoor shower garden.
Thanks again for your kind words. Say hi to the rest of the family.
