About the home

Recently renovated charming cottage in the quiet pretty village of Lucy sur Yonne. Perfect for visiting vineyards, the Morvan National Park & Lake district or historic towns and villages, including the magnificent hill town of Vezelay. Great place for walking and cycling with the canal towpath a few yards away and the busy canal ports of Clamecy and Chatel Censoir. Popular for house hunters in Burgundy and those in search of the fine vineyards of Chablis & Irancy. Available for short or long stays throughout the year.

Marble floors downstairs and wooden floors upstairs, beamed ceilings, and with traditional furnishings the cottage provides a really comfortable base for a holiday or longer term rental. The wood burner in the lounge provides a cosy focal point during the winter months and there are efficient electric heaters in each room.

Further details outdoors:
The drive provides private parking. The small patio style garden is private and ideal for relaxing in the sun and there is a permanent stone barbecue for alfresco dining.

Dogs may be allowed by arrangement.
May not be suitable for small children - marble stone floors downstairs.
Short notice breaks and 'impulse' get away for a break negotiatiable within a month of date required

The Burgundy / Yonne region

Hot summers and cold crisp winters make fine conditions for vines and the most famous area in the Yonne is Chablis. Half an hour drive from the cottage takes you into the Chablis hillsides covered in vines. You will be able to taste wines at many of the vineyards and outlets in the village of Chablis itself and also nearer to home at Irancy, St Bris and Coulanges la Vineuse.

Ideal area for outdoor activities, walking and cycling are a joy because the area is so unspoilt and wonderful for sampling the local food and hospitality.

The Lucy sur Yonne area

Vezelay with it's famous Bascilica is a short drive away. Auxerre is on the banks of the River Yonne with good shopping and beautiful Cathedral and Abbey. Many good restaurants here.

Guestbook for The Cottage

This wonderful homely cottage in Lucy is a home from home. It is in an ideal situation for biking, or just a stroll along the river or canal where you will see some beautiful barges and boats. The near towns of Clamecy and Vezelay are wonderful; there are lots of lovely restaurants and shops. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Lucy and will definitely return in the future. Such an easy house to be in, winter or summer, with everything to hand, good use of space, comfort but no clutter. In winter, it's a delight to walk into the lamplit sitting room and be greeted by a crackling log fire - and the sofas are wickedly comfortable. In summer, the little L-shaped garden is the perfect private spot for breakfast, picnic or drinks - or just lazing in the sun with the birds before exerting oneself at the barbecue. We loved the light and openness of the main bedroom upstairs with its typically French antiques and lots of space. We even enjoyed the 7 o'clock church bells as they lulled us back to sleep! There are no cleaning charges as it is included in the rental price but because....

Dogs are allowed at the cottage UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, and regretfully due to previous experience, we will have to charge for extra cleaning of 30 euros, if you bring your dog or cat. I hope you understand.

Payments by cheque or bank transfer accepted in euros or sterling.

Refundable damage deposit of £50 per week payable with balance.
