How to get there
FLY: Zurich Airport is closest ... Basel and Berne are also convenient
DRIVE: A little over an hour’s drive from Zurich. Follow motorway direction Luzern, THEN direction Gothard and follow signs for (Stans Sud) Engelbergerthal-Engelberg (Chains or 4X4 are required in the Winter.)
TRAIN: There are regular trains from Zurich Airport, Basel and Berne to Engelberg. “Intercity” train to Luzern then onto the delightful mountain train that takes you up the Engelberg valley. Journey time - 2 hours 15 minutes
DIRECTIONS FROM ENGELBERG TO 'ALPHAVEN' :
Only one road into town... follow that until you hit a sharp right hand turn, 50 metres later, turn left (Monastery now on your right... YOU CAN'T MISS IT.) Follow road as it turns left (Approx 100 Metres) then turn right after another 75 Metres... You are now on "Schwand" (Strasse). This is a narrow road, follow it up the hill (approx 600 Metres) and you will turn sharp right into "Zelgli" (It is signposted) ... Follow our narrow road up until you see the house "CHA CHA" in front of you, turn left and we are the last house on the right ... number 44. You can park in the garage underneath.

Further details outdoors: ALPHAVEN … a few other things you might like to know! • Alphaven is 1200 metres (4000 feet) above Sea Level • It is a 4 Minute Walk to the Ski Bus (Route 4) which is free during the Ski Season and is every half an hour (on the hour and half past the hour) • It takes 10 minutes to walk to the village and allow 15 minutes to walk back up! • When there is snow cover … you can Ski / Board back to the house from the “Brunni” side of the mountain • There is a footpath next to the house which connects to all the beautiful walking routes. • There is a Sitting Area in the Garden above the house which is a perfect setting in the summer for Barbeque's or simply relaxing and enjoying the magnificent views. • If you want to eat out and don’t want to drive,the four star Waldegg Hotel is a 5 minute walk , it has a delightful restaurant with wonderful food and a recently completed Swimming Pool and Gym.
