THE BIGGEST MARBLE RUN CLOCK
The world biggest indoor marble run clock is situated in the Bucherer building on the Schwanenplatz in the old town of Lucerne. For the numerous tourists from all over the world it is one of the most popular points of interest in Lucerne and the wonderful attraction. The kinetic sculpture spreads out through four floors of the boutique and looks just great! The clock symbolizes the combination of the motion, energy and precision.
Kapellbrücke is the famous bridge over the river of Reuss with the octagonal water tower. Since many centuries this is the town’s landmark of Lucerne. Erected in 1365, Kapellbrücke is the oldest covered bridge of Europe. It connects the new and the old parst of town and is decorated with 111 triangular paintings. Each of them illustrates the most important scenes from the history of Switzerland.
The city of Lucerne was founded at the end of the 12th century. The construction of the first wall fortifications had begun immediately afterwards. The city wall was indirectly mentioned in the chronicles in 1226 and 1238.
Till the present day this medieval construction with its unique charisma remained almost intact. The Musegg wall is about 870 meters long and almost 1.5 meters wide.
TOWN HALL OF LUCERNE
The Town Hall of Lucerne was finished in 1606 after the construction period of four years. The first counsil meeting was held here on 24th of June.
Due to the Italian origins of the architect’s (Anton Isemann) assistants, the facade of this wonderful building features some traits similar to the Palazzo of Milan.
The famous Lion’s monument, pictured in every Lucerne’s guidebook, was created in 1821. The monument is devoted to the memory of 760 Swiss guardians, fallen in Paris. The beautiful and very sad figure of the dying lion is one of the most popular sightseeing points of the Central Switzerland.
The renowned St. Franz Xaver Jesuit Church is located on the left riverside of Reuss in the old town of Lucerne. This cathedral, named after Francisco de Xavier, was built in 1677. This is the first big baroque church in Switzerland. This historical building was presumably created according to the plans of an architect from Vorarlberg (Michael Thumb or Michael Beer). According to the other version, the church was planned by the Jesuit Padre Heinrich Mayer.
The city of Lucerne fascinates, enchants and invites you on a discovery trip. Narrow alleys with cosy cafés, historical buildings with the amazing facade painting, ancient stone fountains, beautiful churches, antique pavements and the famous Musegg wall... Old town of Lucerne is the place where it all had begun… the place, where vital energy booms and the cameras run hot.

"Beautiful View, UGLY Service (When We Could Get It)"
