About the home

Casa Dell' Aqua is so called due to the ancient well in the garden. It is situated on a famous hill known as "La Bracolleria", which is host to seven small villages, olive groves, vineyards and farms.

The Lucca hills are known for the quality of their wine and particularly olives and olive oil. There are fantastic views over the plain to Lucca, and over the Apuane Mountains to the North. The famous art city of Lucca is only a few kilometres away, and the lovely villages of the Media Valley and the dramatic mountain scenery of the Garfagnana are also nearby.

The house has been only recently restored and has a large olive grove around it. There is a colourful garden and terraces, on one of which an out of ground pool has been erected, great for cooling off or playing in.

Nearby, within 5 minutes walk, there is a well known restaurant, and many others in the locality. There are also important churches and villages which can be visited on foot.

Casa Dell'Aqua is a big house with 4 bedrooms, 2 large doubles, 1 single, and 1 twin which has space for 3 people. This bedroom has a double bunk-bed with a single bunk below it.

There is a large very bright living room with a dining area and stone log fireplace, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen with table, and a utility room. There is a comfortable atmosphere about the old house, with many features including chestnut beams and terracotta ceilings, and lovely tiled floors.

Casa Dell' Aqua is a holiday home of quality in a much appreciated area.

The pool is an out of ground 8 x 3 metres fabricated pool which is good for cooling off or play.

The house can be rented throughout the year. Flexible entry days, Saturday to Saturday NOT essential.

During colder periods there will be a metered charge for central heating. This is likely to be 10-15 euros per day. Firewood costs 2 euros per basket.

Long rents can be negotiated.

Conditions

A breakages deposit of 200 euros will be required. Small breakages will not be charged for.

The Tuscany / Lucca Province region

Tuscany is Italy's most popular region for tourists, famous for the Art Cities of Florence, Sienna and Lucca, it's great and contrasting scenery, fine, warm climate, and especially for it's food and wine.

The beautiful walled city of Lucca is only 12 kms. away, 15 minutes by car or bus. Lucca is a fascinating place, the labyrinth medieval streets hosting many museums and galleries.

The Lucca / Media Valle del Serchio area

Lucca was the home of Puccini, and an opera is performed every single day of the year. There are a number of other festivals, notably the Lucca Summer Festival, which has several concerts throughout July and August, and has hosted Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Sting and Lauryn Hill among many others.

The famous outdoor Puccini festival is also held throughout July and August at nearby Torre del Lago. Lucca is around one hour from Florence and 20 minutes from Pisa by train or car.

Only 30 minutes drive away we find the Versillian beaches of the Tuscan coast. In the other direction there is the beautiful unspoilt region of the Garfagnana, with its outdoor recreational activities and highly attractive old villages.
