About the home

In a magnificent part of Tuscany, the surrounding areas of the city of Lucca, with its hillsides of olive groves, vineyards and acacia woods, is the setting of Villa Mori.
With its beautiful private pool Villa Mori and its farmhouse podere Mori stands in a park of almost 8,000 square metres, completely enclosed by ancient surrounding walls.
The Villa dates back to the 15th century. The farmhouse Rosa was perhaps built as a hunting lodge. At the end of the 1700s the main villa was bought by a well-known family of merchants from Lucca, the Moris, after whom the Villa was named.

There are 5 newly restored separate apartments at Villa Morri. The apartments are rented together for a group of people numbering up to 23.

In each apartment there is a superb large living room with dining area and fully equipped kitchen, large double/twin bedrooms, luxury bathrooms, and a bed settee. There is a shaded terrace for convenient al fresco eating, and a great BBQ area.

Villa Morri offers its guests a fantastic pool that is the only one of its kind (16x9 metres, max depth 1.5 metres). The pool has a slipway, with the water being constantly filtered by a technique which avoids the use of chlorine. There is a hydro massage area with seating so that even small children can use it. The surrounding lawn has sun beds for relaxing in the sun.

This villa complex is perfect for a large family group or group of friends who want to be together but have access to more easily managed, independent living accommodation affording privacy within a large shared house, private garden and pool.

Four of the five apartments are in the 17th century farmhouse of the old villa. Each apartment has lovely modern bathrooms, and some of the double bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom. The other apartment is separate, next to the pool 25 metres from the main farmhouse. It has its own shaded terrace. Each apartment has air conditioning for particularly hot weather, and central heating for colder spells.

The villa is in the area of Vicopelago, one of the lovely rural areas of quiet country lanes, olive groves and vineyards which lie within the boundaries of the famous "Art" city of Lucca. The beautiful walled city is only 3 kms. away, 10 minutes by car, 30 minutes to walk, and is therefore perfect for sampling much of what Tuscany has to offer.

Out of the main season each apartment can be rented separately, ideal for couples or smaller groups visiting Lucca. Entry days are flexible out of season.

Conditions

The owner will ask for a 1000 euro security deposit or 200 Euros per apartment, which will be returned at the end of your stay.

The Tuscany / Lucca Province region

The beautiful walled city of Lucca is only 3 kms. away, 10 minutes by car or bus. Lucca is one of Italy’s famous 'art cities', the labyrinth medieval streets hosting many museums and galleries.

The Lucca area

Lucca was the home of Puccini, and an opera is performed every single day of the year. There are a number of other festivals, notably the Lucca Summer Festival, which has several concerts throughout July and August, and has hosted Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Sting and Lauryn Hill among many others.

The famous outdoor Puccini festival is also held throughout July and August at nearby Torre del Lago. Lucca is around one hour from Florence and 20 minutes from Pisa by train or car.

Fly to Pisa from several UK airports including Manchester, Liverpool,Leeds/Bradford, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Edinburgh and Prestwick, with Ryanair, Jet2.com, Thompsons, B.A. and others.

Other airports to fly to are Genoa (3hrs.drive), Milan Bergamo, 4hrs., Bologna (3hrs.)

We had a fabulous holiday this year at Villa Mori. It really is a luxurious place, very quiet and so convenient for the Lucca city centre. At first we walked to and from town, and then realised that taxis were cheap so after dark we tended to take a taxi home. A perfect holiday mix of country and fascinating city. Julia Foster, London
