The Tuscany region

Lucca is in the North of Tuscany.
Outdide Lucca you can plunge into a deep and shadowy greenery of the most beautiful Villa’s parks of Lucchesia. Especially in springtime evrrything is a “triumph” of flowers: very well kept flowerbeds, camellias alleys, centuries-old trees and very rare plants.
You can easily reach other historic cities as Pisa (20 km) or Florence (65 km), but also the beach of Viareggio (24 km) or Natural Parks as Migliarino-San Rossore or Alpi Apuane (30 km).

COOKING
Cooking and food are very important elements of a population culture and their ingredients are rightly part of the landscape were smells and flavours survive in the memories as essential elements of a split of civilization.
Wheat, maize, wine, oil, chestnuts are the basis of traditional recipes enriched with farmyard animal meats or some fishes. And more bacon fat from Colonnata, chicks peas, beans and lentils, the home made pasta, delicate cheese and spelt in its typical preparations not only are great rediscoveries but also exploitation of poor foods full of history and meanings.

Lucca area

Lucca deserves to be seen and admired not only for the works of art in encloses, but also for being a rare and precious example of an almost intact historic centre.
The urban structure is has remained typically Roman-medieval.
In Lucca there are many hidden corner to discover.
The house is near San Donato door, one of the most ancient doors in the historical, beautiful walls, characteristic of the city.
You can easily reach the house walking from Piazzale Verdi (200 m, bus station). The railway station is 800 m away.

Near the house, you can find a small Tuscan restaurant with typical cuisine where you can appreciate “tastes of old times”.

The walls are close to the house. You can walk over, or rent a bike for the tour (4 km. long). You can take a rest in a green environment of Baluardo S.Croce or in the funfair park of Piazza San Donato.
