The Tuscany region
Tuscany is a region infused with good fortune; a generously temperate climate along the coasts and in the valleys, and considerably cooler up in the mountains. Summers are hot and humid but the sea is enjoyable between June and September. Spring days, especially in the month of May, when it rains less, are pleasantly and not insufferably warm.
Tuscany is a year-round destination. If art is your priority, come in winter, when reduced visitor numbers make fresco-gazing and museum-trawling a real pleasure.
Immerse yourself amid the unspoiled beauty of Tuscany with its shaded olive groves punctuated by tall cypress, parasol pines and bright green rows of vineyards. Discover the countryside of Lucca on horseback, by bicycle or on foot. Feel the cool mountain air, the warm sun on one's skin. Explore picturesque former country seats of the aristocracy and old crumbling farms. Wander among ancient monasteries, through medieval villages, primeval forests and along blossoming fields.
Lucca / Capannori area
City of a thousand faces and of an intriguing and discreet charm which is there to be discovered and increasingly appreciated as one gets to know the city better. Lucca with it's superb 16 Century City Walls which protectingly encircle it, a charming place to stroll among the trees and grassy banks, Lucca with its tranquil river which looks on a short distance away offering unforgetable walks where one can restore body and mind.
Lucca, city of great artists, of immortal composers such as Boccherini, Catalani and Puccini, of famous writers and historians. Lucca with it's shop windows which testify the flourishing continuity of mercantile business dating from past centuries and never forgotten. With the streets of its town centre where the traditions are renewed every day offering a variety of wines, gastronomic, handmade and local products, with its Antiques Market, one of the most important and oldest in Tuscany, the 3rd weekend of each month.
Lucca with its monuments, squares, fountains, museums; with its tranquil medieval town centre in great part pedestrian, with its theatre, the Teatro del Giglio, and it's esteemed seasons of opera, prose, orchestral music and dance; with its important cultural events such as the Comics Revue and the Summer Festival, the traditional ones such as the procession of Santa Croce during the city's September festivities, or the Flower Market in April. Lucca is a city which offers the tourists attractions of historic interest and natural beauty with the sure knowledge that you can walk through the city and surrounding areas at anytime in complete safety.
Festivals in Tuscany are often more show than spirit, they can add a note of pageantry or culture to your holiday. Some are great costume affairs, with roots dating back to the Middle Ages, and there are quite a few music festivals, antique fairs, and most of all, festivals devoted to food and drink.
Children are still the royalty of Italy, and are pampered, often obscenely spoiled. If you're bringing your own bambini to Italy, they'll receive a warm welcome everywhere. There are Luna Parks, Pinocchio Park in Collodi just a 15 minute drive from the apartment. The Pistoia Zoo in Pistoia and the Nature Park in Cavriglia in the Valdarno just 30 minutes away.

Guestbook
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Lucchesi .........friendly, knowlegable family, clean home, excellent, healthy meals. Picturesque view of the distant mountains, fenced back garden(great for children) We found it easy to find many sightseeing areas within a half hour drive such as Pisa, Massa, Carrarra and the Mediterranean coast. Had four days exploring the ancient walled city of Lucca, nearby. What a delight! Transportation is close by, incl. airport, trains, bus. Overall, a unique, Tuscan experience and we hope to return someday.......Lynda and Ernie in Canada
My 40th Birthday was a memorable one. My husband surprised me with a trip to Lucca, Italy. He informed me that I would be leaving in 2 days. Well you could imagine my disbelief. I did not feel prepared, I felt like I had to organize, plan the trip etc. When I arrived in Lucca at the Casa Luchessi I felt such a relief meeting Tania and Mirko. They were friendly, fun to be with and knowledgeable about the history and were informative. With this sense of security I was able to ask questions, explore new places and had the confidence to venture out on my own knowing that I knew someone not far away that I could call if I needed to. The wine and food were out of this world. Tania was a doll. I was so thankful to have been able to speak English and learn a few phrases of Italian from them as well. I miss Tania, Mirko and their darling son Damiano and will be flying there again soon.

We just wanted to thank you again for your great hospitality and warm welcome. We were very comfortable and satisfied with your accommodations, plus having all those amenities close by really helped us since we didn't have a car. We will definetly recommend Casa Lucchesi to our family and friends. It was also nice to communicate on a professional level with your knowledge and experience you both have. We will be back every year to stay with you. Kind Regards Mr. and Mrs. Karmel Las Vegas, Nevada
"I really enjoyed my stay at Casa Lucchesi during the month of June 2008. The view of the mountains and the garden view, really gave me the true feeling of being in the Tuscany region. The hosts were friendly, helpful and made us feel like part of the family. I would recommend staying at Casa Lucchesi in Lucca to enjoy the culture and local flavour of the area to it's fullest."
