Further details indoors

The house has been our home for the past 20 odd years and we love it. The rooms are large and spacious and light and airy and we have every convenience one needs to live comfortably The kitchen is large with a dining area and has all equipment nedded for easy cooking. There is another dining area in the sitting room but we tend to use mostly the kitchen or the patio outside in the summer where we have lovely meals using the barbecue and enjoying the wonderful view and the garden. We keep the mosquitoes away with candles giving a romantic effect. and in June and July we have the lovely little fireflies around which seem to be little fairies flitting around and they are a sign that there is a complete lack of pollution in the area. the gardens are pretty with lwns and flower beds and lots of roses and hydrangeas. it is a beautiful quiet spot a little above the village with lovely views all around.

Further details outdoors

The pool is at the back of the house reached by a few steps where we have archways with climbing roses, there is a lawn at the back where the children can play . the garden and house are all enclosed with a large gate and fences and hedges so it is quite safe for the children to play you just ave to keep an eye on them in the pool. i fel sure that you will love tehouse and gardens as we do.

The Tuscany region

Lucca is a small town and province in the north east of Tuscany which is rich in marvelous scenery, many interesting things to do and places to see. It is a very mild climate and we don't have much winter. I think it snows only once a hyear and then lasts only for a few days.

The old town is surrounded by magnificent walls alog which you can walk right round looking down into the antique part of town with it's one hundred churches. The walls were built to keep out invaders and where he moat used to be is a lovely large grassed area where people take their dogs for a run and children 'play games. It is one of the quaintests towns I have ever seen and whenever I go I ffind something new.It is also very near to all other places of interest in Tuscany having good access to the motorway rom where we each Florence in oless than one hour

Lucca

The provine of Lucca is full of interesting things for all ages and tastes. If you love the sea there is the famous Versilian coast with fabulous sandy beaches and all amenities where the children love playing in the sand and they provide all kinds of entertainment. You can pass a whole day on the beach where they have bars, restuarants swings, swimming pools changing facilites, showers etc, then in the evening there is shopping in numerous gorgeous boutiques all along the sea front and fantastic restuarants, night clubs, variety shows, the lot.

But, if you prefer to tour the hinterland there are special tours set out to show you the numerous olive oil estate and vinryards where you taste the wine and olive oil with a small snack and then there are the magnificent antique villas, something to be seen to be believed. Drive a bit further north into the Garfagnana mountainous area and you will find marvelous little hilltop villages to explore, special adventure parks for the youing and energetic, there is a great zoo at Pistoia,. Nearer to home we have tennis courts at a stones throw and horse riding in the woods of the Compitese hills wher, playgrounds for the little ones, lovely boutiques and many antique shopshere is now a Camelia show, the whole village is open to the public showing everyones beautiful camelias.

There are variuos festivals throughout the year, the main one being the Lucca Summer festival in July, various flower shows, Santa Zita at the end of April inside the walls in the amphtheatre. There are so many good restuarants around that it would mbe impossible to name them all.

You could try a different one every evening or miuch better have a wonderful bbq in the garden overlooking the beautiful view of Lucca with all lights shining, wonderful sight in the evening. There is a take away pizza bar just down the road from us and their pizzas are really good.
