The Tuscany region

The Tuscan landscape is loved because of its charming villages, which are set amidst the hills around Lucca and the many cultivated fields, olive groves and vineyards.

The surroundings of Lucca offer their tourists a big spectrum of possibilities how to spend your holidays: beautiful strolls on the nearby hills, visits to the art towns of Tuscany, tasting of typical local products such as olive oil and wine, cultural and musical events, festivals in villages and craftsmen markets which take place during the whole year.

Driving along the road leading from Lucca to Pisa you will notice a beautiful landscape covered with fields and olive groves and the rocky line of hills in the background.

Tuscany offers many historical and beautiful art cities which will absolutely enchant visitors, such as: Florence, Pisa, Siena, Volterra, San Miniato, to name but a few. For beach lovers the Versilia coast offers kilometres of beaches with facilities and also more natural beaches in nature reserves.

Lucca is a little town rich in art and culture and well-known as the jewel of Tuscany. Lucca is one of the few towns which has maintained its historical medieval town walls intact. These walls surround the historic centre with its many churches, towers, palaces, museums, traditional boutiques and characteristic lanes.Vehicles are not allowed on the city walls, therefore it is really a beautiful and fantastic stroll or bike ride. From the walls you have magnificent views onto the architectural beauties of the town and the rolling surrounding hills. In Lucca you can take lovely walks on the city walls , hire a bike, climb up one of the towers and enjoy the quaint view on the rooftops, visit the museum of modern art or that of the comics and much, much more. The city also offers a wide range of events the whole year around: the Summer Festival in month of July, classical music concerts (among which some are dedicated to the beautiful music of Giacomo Puccini), the antique and the arts and crafts market, the Comics and Games exhibition(in late October). Other towns such as Pisa, Florence, Viareggio are easily accessible by train or coach..

"Excellent location in a wonderful town"

Flat was really nice. Everything we needed in terms of locality and convenience as a base for other places. We found the flat clean and tidy and, from a practical point of view, it had everything we could want in terms of living and cooking. Do be aware, though, that the immediate location is not quiet. If you are after a quiet stay, this is not the place for you as the corner at the bottom of the flat is quite lively til midnight. Addionally, please also note that there is a major music festival held throughout July and the main stage is a hundred meters from the that and when that is on it's rock stadium loud. However, all this stops by 11.30. All told, great place and a lovely flat.
