Home description
Casa Serena is a two-bedroom apartment in a wonderful location in Barga's medieval Old Town, yards from cafes and restaurants and only a couple of minutes' walk from the Duomo. Situated on the second floor, it enjoys wonderful views over Barga's terracotta rooftops but, at the same time, has direct access to a pleasant, sheltered courtyard (approx 6 x 5 metres) on the same level as the apartment. Ideal for relaxing and al fresco dining.
The main entrance is in Piazza del Commune, a wonderful little square where you will find the atmospheric Capretz restaurant/cafe with its fabulous terrace and "Aristo's", the meeting point for local musicians and artists. The rear entrance allows access through the courtyard from the cobbled lanes which lead to Barga's famous Duomo.
The theatre and many other restaurants are all within a few minutes' walk. Although very much in Barga's medieval old town, Casa Serena benefits from the fact that it is only 5 minutes' walk to the modern part of Barga with it's supermarket, banks, shops and other facilities. The outdoor pool and tennis courts are also both within easy walking distance.
Perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in the spirit of Tuscany.

The Tuscany region
The Garfagnana region has all the charm, culture and history of southern Tuscany while also offering endless opportunities for walking and exploring amidst rugged and spectacular mountain scenery.
Nestling between the Apuan Alps and the Appennines, the region remains largely unspoilt. There are good rail links to the cities of Florence, Pisa and Lucca.
Lucca - Garfagnana / Barga area
Barga is a wonderful medieval town bursting with history, beautiful architecture, galleries, cafés and restaurants. There is a jazz club which offers live music all year round as well as a theatre and summer jazz and opera festivals. Throughout the summer in Barga and surrounding villages there are frequent small outdoor festivals with live music, dancing and local food.
The modern part of Barga has a public outdoor pool, a cinema, tennis courts, riding stables, bike hire and, of course, many shops, cafes and restaurants.
