Just 35km north of the famous walled town of Lucca, with its central location puts it in easy reach of Pisa, Florence and the stylish seaside resort of Viareggio. Situated high in the Tuscan hills giving it stunning view across the valleys towards Ghivizzano and the medieval town of Coreglia.

The property is ideal for exploring the excellent northern Tuscan countryside and the famous sights it has to offer such as the Garfagnana region and the splendid Apuane mountain range with its cable car for those who like to trek in the summer and the well catered Ski resort of Abetone for the winter months, not to mention the vineyards of the Monecarlo and Chianti wine regions. For those who want to be pampered there are plenty of restaurants and bars within easy reach offering a wide range of traditional Tuscan recipes catering for all tastes and at affordable price to match. Or preferable a typical Tuscan cooking service can be provided at a very good rate in the comfort of your own home (Menu available on request).

The Tuscany region

"Northwest of Castelnuovo de Garfagnana in northern Tuscany lies a mountainous nature reserve – Parco Naturale delle Alpi Apuane. It is here, to the east of the little walled town of Barga that you'll find Coreglia Antelminelli." within this lies the quite hamlet of Gromignana.

Coreglia's main claim to fame is a plaster figurine museum, the Museo della Figurina di Gesso, which tells you the history of these local products, once sold by traders all over Europe. Coreglia Antelminelli is an excellent base for exploring, though you'll probably need a car as some areas are inaccessible any other way. Drive south and both natural beauty and man-made attractions await you..,

Marvel at the Giant's Cooking Pots – huge hollows left by the glacial meltwaters of the Ice Age. You are also within easy driving distance of the beautiful Roman town Lucca, the beaches of Viareggio on the coast and Torre del Lago Puccini, where the famous operatic composer lived and is buried.

Lucca - Garfagnana / Coreglia Antelminelli area

Barga is just 10 miles and 'Il Ciocco', an impressive sports and leisure complex is nearby. The thermal baths of Bagni di Lucca are only 8 miles away. During the winter months of December to April there is skiing at Abetone, a well known local ski resort, just 30 miles.A local shop and bar with public telephone is just a few minutes walk, in the hamlet of Gromignano. Other shops, post office, bank, hotels, restaurants, tennis, bike hire and horse riding facilities are all to be found in Coreglia (2 miles).

How to get there

The rapidly growing airport of Pisa is a simple one hour drive to the house giving the opportunity to pass a few of the well known tourist sites along the way such as the famous town of Lucca.
The airport offers a large host of car hire companies to choose from whom are all available to book on the internet, there is also a meet and greet service available and the facility for a hire car to be arranged locally
giving you that extra time to unwind.
