The Northern Tuscan region of Garfagnana is rich in history and has beautiful surroundings. Garfagnana is one of Tuscany's best kept secrets and offers spectacular views over the Apuan Alps and Serchio valley. It has countless amount of beautiful hilltop villages where ancient traditions live on.
The whole area is the finest in Italy for walkers and hikers. There are enormous and ancient chestnut forests, alpine meadows covers in flowers in springtime, caves, spectacular ridges, cascading streams.

Lucca - Garfagnana / Castelnuovo area

Old historic market towns of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana and Barga nearby.
The Ponte del Diavolo and Grotta del Vento are some of the popular tourist attractions around the area.
The vast National park offers tremendous hiking tracks, horse riding cycling and golf.
In winter the local ski resort of Abetone is only 80km away.

The villa is also well positioned for day trips to various locations.
The historic city of Lucca is 45 minutes drive away and the world known city of Florence (Firenze) less than 2 hours.
Furthermore, the Italian Riviera and its UNESCO protected area of Cinque Terre is also nearby. The first of the 5 villages that make Cinque Terre is called Riomaggiore, which is less than 2 hours drive away.
