The Tuscany region
Tuscany is one of the oldest civilized regions in Europe. The Etruscans colonized the area long before Rome had been founded. Tuscany is one of Italy's most beautiful and landscape-wise varying region. Throughout the centuries, outside its rich and opulent medieval and renaissance towns, Tuscany has conserved its original rural and pastoral character from wavy green pasture land over to rough and rocky mountains topping sterdy and healthy chestnut forests. The Tuscan seaside is characterized by long and wide sand beaches lined with beautiful pinewood forests. Tuscany is the ideal region for culture and nature lovers.
Lucca - Garfagnana / Barga area
The Bellavista area of Barga is historically viewed as Old Barga, although it is just sited outside the medieval city walls. The name Bellavista derived from the stunning view one can enjoy of the River Serchio Valley and the Apuan Alps. Barga, besides being along with Lucca, one of the most beautiful medieval towns in whole Italy, offers its visitors a broad choice of cultural, leisure activities and very good nightlife. Among the annual cultural events there are: Opera Barga, an annual festival of baroque opera performances in the local "Teatro dei Differenti" where Giacomo Puccini had performed the premières of most of his operas. Barga Jazz, an annual Jazz festival EnoJazz, the aftermath of the annual Jazz festival, where all musicians jam together until early in the morning. The "Festa delle Piazzette", an annual 10-day music festivaln of 30 free Rock, Fok, Classical and Jazz concerts. Casa Cordati, a museum yielding the permanent painting collection of local painter Bruno Cordati. The "John Bellany Showroom", a permanently changing collection of Scottish painter John Bellany. The "Museo Civico", where the history of Barga is exposed. The "Duomo", Barga's imponent 10th dome. Among the leisure activities there is: The "Barga Jazz Club", open on Friday night with live jazz performed by Italian and International Jazz musicians Equitation Trekking A stunningly lively nightlife until early in the morning. Barga people are very open hearted and love to make tourists feel at home. Walking
