This spacious house is situated in the historic village of Pompadour - on the route of Richard the Lionheart. The town boasts the magnificent Chateau which was once the home of Madame de Pompadour - favourite mistress to Louis XV. Pompadour has many good restaurants, cafes and bars and hosts a weekly market where traders from all over the region come to sell their wares. The house is also within walking distance to a large lake and public swimming pool. Pompadour is also famous as being an international equestrian eventing and horse racing centre and events are held regularly in Pompadour.

The Limousin / Auvergne / Correze region
If you visit the Correze, you will find yourself in beautiful and pristine countryside where there are over 5,000 kilometres of rivers and a large selection of lakes to visit - in excess of 40 in total! The area also offers splendid opportunities for other outdoor pursuits such as walking, fishing and canoeing. If you travel east towards the Massif Central, you will discover a change in the landscape. It is more mountainous and wilder. The south east of the Correze has some important Romanesque Churches to visit.
Lubersac / Pompadour area
At Pompadour you will find all you could need including supermarkets, butchers, chemists, bakers, restaurants, cafes, tourist information office and a local market. There are additional restaurants, bars, tourist information offices and markets at nearby Ségur Le Château (4 miles) and Lubersac (3.5 miles).

Pompadour is one of France's National Studs - famous for the breeding of Anglo-Arab horses. Every July it hosts three days of horse events at the National Dressage Competition.
Situated in the beautiful Correze hills, in the south of the Limousin region, Pompadour is the home of the Anglo-Arab breed of horses (a cross between thoroughbred and Arab bloods). Here there is a stud farm (which is open to visitors) which was established by Louis XV then abolished during the Revolution. It was re-established by Napoleon, and now continues to breed some of the finest stallions in the world. Although there are lots of horse activities all year round, this is one of the highlights of the equestrian events, and is a must for horse lovers.
