The large living room and open plan kitchen/diner are particularly attractive. The situation of the cottage over looking fields to the rear is delightful, with garden offering a similarly attractive view. A great cottage - in a great location in a wonderfully tranquil part of the village.

About this location
The Cotswolds region
Lower Slaughter is an absolutely classic Cotswold village; located on the banks of the River Eye, which also flows through Upper Slaughter. Probably one of the most recognisable and most photographed elements of the Cotswolds is the Old Mill which sits at the west end of the village, about 400 yards from Newlands Cottage.
This was once a water mill with an undershot waterwheel and a chimney for additional steam power. The name 'Lower Slaughter' comes from the 'Olde English' name for a wet land 'slothre' (muddy place) which is reference to the land that the village sits on. It is particularly known for it's unspoilt limestone cottages in the traditional Cotswold style.
There are two top hotels in the village, one The Slaughters Inn has a good pub/bar element within. This is about 200 yards away!
The village is very convenient for Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold each within a few miles. Slightly further afield are the popular market towns of Burford and Chipping Campden but within easy driving distance.
The village is as good as it gets (in our opinion!!) in terms of Cotswolds' classics.
