Further details outdoors

The cottage is situated in an area of outstanding beauty. There are many places of interest a short drive away, such as Bourton-on-the-water, the market town of Morton-in-Marsh (Tuesday), Banbury, Oxford, Cheltenham, and many other pretty cotswold villages.

A short walking distance from the cottage is the 11th Century church of St Nicholas with a distinctive old wall painting. There is a bus called 'the villager' which car-less visitors have used to visit villages in the surrounding area. The nearest main bus route goes from Stow-on-the-Wold 3 miles away.

Stow-on-the-Wold is well served by a number of unique shops and eateries, it also boasts a Tesco supermarket with free parking available for non-customers.

Further details

Generally children 12 and over are welcome at the cottage, and appreciate a second bedroom with its own sitting room with TV, DVD player and Freeview box. Because this bedroom is up a further flight of stairs it is felt it is not suitable for unsupervised young children. Two easy chairs make it a comfortable sitting room.

This bedroom is optional and a discount is offered to 2 people not using it.

No Smoking, no pets thank you.

Lower Oddington

Stow-on the-Wold (3 miles) has a horse fair in the autumn, This is an historic village with interesting shops, and many places to eat. Our favourite is the Bakers oven a small tea shop. There are many places to dine as well.

See the stocks in the market square where people would humiliate thieves, by throwing rotten food at them in days gone by! There are several places of worship here too. Cof E, Catholic, Baptist.

"What a lovely place to stay"

Lovely cottage in a delightful area. The village is perfect for a quiet break and other villages and towns are easily accessible. Driving is a dream as the roads are good and relatively quiet.Although… More

I am sorry you were disappointed at not seeing the attic bedroom. It would have been because it had been prepared for a guest coming after you. We have to be sure it has not been used.
However my brother Jeff who lives next door at Foden House, would have been pleased to show it to you.
Apart from that I hope you enjoyed your stay.

"Peace, quiet and tranquility."

Thank you Helen for your review. I agree the local pub is expensive but lots of guests have been delighted with the food. And just 2 minutes walk from Foden Lodge means it is very convenient.

"Old world charm"

I have stayed in Beryl's country retreat several times now, going back to May 2009 and always feel so relaxed and comfortable while there. I used the cottage as a base for walking The Diamond Way a couple of times, and at other times my husband has joined me for holidays. He is equally as taken with the place as me. There are many places to visit from there and a good pub almost next door. It is much quieter than Stow which is just up the road although Stow is easy to get to when wanted for shopping etc. and there is a handy fish & chippy there. We have had the log burner going on chillier evenings. It is very roomy apart from galley kitchen. You do have to watch the step down into the bedroom!
If you want a fully fitted modern streamlined holiday stay with all the trimmings, don't go to Foden Lodge - it is for those who enjoy old-world charm without anything fancy. We shall be going again this year!
