Camden Nook is a beach-front villa on a beautiful bay on the West Coast of Barbados. The beach is uncrowded and the house benefits from direct beach access. Holetown and its amenities are a 5 - 8 minute drive away to the South and Mullins 5 minutes to the North. There is a variety of restaurants nearby from simple beach-front bars to fine dinning. Royal Westmorland and Sandy Lane golf courses are close by. Located on Reeds Bay there is great sandy bottom swimming and snorkelling all around the area both North and South of the house. The patio of the house overlooks the turquoise sea and in the evening you can watch the sunsets and enjoy a sundowner in comfort. There is a BBQ and plenty of outside seating. Music is available form the bose sound dock and inside there is apple TV , satellite and plenty of board games for those who wish to get out of the sun for a while. There are six loungers all with cushions and there is always a plentiful supply of fresh towels. Calls to the US and Canada are free via magic jack and there is high speed internet for those who wish to work or play. All of the bedrooms are air-conditioned and we use 100% cotton sheets and down pillows for your comfort (allege free pillows available on request). The house is very well appointed and has a maid service six days per week included in the price.

All the bedrooms are air conditioned. They all have safes and hairdryers. The Living Room has a flat screen TV, satellite, and a Media Drive with over 400 movies. The master bedroom also has its own flat screen tv, satellite system (operates independently of the living room) .The kitchen dinner has a bose sound dock with an ipod (you can if you wish just plug your own in and play your own music ) . It also has a large casual breakfast area ( although we normally eat outside and the children play games in here ) .The kitchen is fully equipped with a large stove, fridge freezer, microwave etc. Outside of the kitchen is a patio dining area looking over the sun-deck and the turquoise sea beyond. There is also a drinks area outside bedroom two. The house benefits from having magic jack plus making all calls to the USA and Canada FREE OF CHARGE . There is wi fi throughout. A scanner, printer is available at no extra charge.

Security Deposits

On arrival at Camden Nook a credit card swipe will be taken as a deposit against breakage's, incidentals and telephone (international only) usage etc. The slip will be returned on departure.

For the elderly or infirm please note that during the late Summer and early Winter (Sept - Dec) the beach maybe lower due to seasonal tides that effect the whole of the west coast. We have built steps to the beach with a handrail to facilitate beach access during this period. Pictures of the access are available from us on request.

The Saint James Parish region

The parish of Saint James ("St. James") is an area located in the western part of the country of Barbados. Increasingly St. James is being known as the playground of the rich and famous, and haven for sun-starved tourists.

In local colloquium, St. James was known as the "Gold Coast", but due to ongoing popularity it is now referred to as the "Platinum Coast", reflective of the parishes many glitzy beach-front mansions, pristine beaches, luxury hotels and consistently high land prices. Many Barbadians say within the Platinum Coast there are as many as, 18 global billionaires own property somewhere within a 6-mile stretch of beach on the island.

The parish also has great historic significance, as it was here that the first British settlers landed in 1625. Under the authority of King James, the British claimed Barbados upon landing in St. James' present-day city of Holetown (formerly Jamestown, named after the King himself), this settlement turned Barbados into what would later be known as "Little England".

Noted for its shopping and restaurants, St. James is central to Barbados' bustling tourist industry, with historical attractions including the St. James Parish Church and the Portvale Sugar Factory - one of the few operational sugar factories on the island.

Though a haven for tourists and foreign expatriates, St. James is far from exclusive. As one of the bigger parishes, it is home to over 20,000 nationals strewn across its many districts, across various social strata. The parish is home to the prestigious Queen's College, one of the foremost schools not only in Barbados, but the Caribbean, founded over a century ago by a British plantation owner by the name of Col. Henry Drax. At its most rural, the parish's many villages (such as the seafront "Fitts Village") are abuzz with activity, near-familial camaraderie, and an active social atmosphere.

Lower Carlton

The beach at Camden Nook is white sand. It is never overcrowded. The water is a very comfortable temperature all year round. It is beautifully clear. The local people are very friendly here and you can buy some great lobster on the beach at very good prices.

"Perfect, perfect, perfect..."

We stayed here for our honeymoon and could not have asked for more. A beautiful villa, superbly maintained, in a wonderful location. We were very impressed with Andrew the property manager, but special mention must go to Rosemary the housekeeper who was an absolute gem. And her Rum Punch has to be one of our highlights!! The villa is just perfect and we enjoyed every aspect of our stay but sitting on the decking listening to the waves as the sun went down was amazing. To be able to walk directly onto the beach from the villa is soooo cool and to wander just a few minutes down the beach and be able to grab a beer was great. The villa is very private and very few people used the beach in front of us so we felt like we were in our own little piece of Heaven. We can't wait to go back!! Thanks Nick, Celia, Andrew and Rosemary - we had the best time!!!

Always great to hear nice things about the people who keep the villa at its best. Andrew is a real star as too is Rosemary. They both give it 110% and we really appreciate their efforts.
