"A fabulous retreat to a comfy home in an idyllic location with friendly helpful service from the owners"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. House was comfy and well equipped, views stunning, but what made it so special was the genuine warm welcome we received and the great helpful service. Our family would love to return to Hazel Brow again one day. It's the ideal place for a big get together.

"Perfect - absolutely perfect!!"
We had chosen Hazel Brow House to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday and were a party of 12 with a further 28 joining us for the actual birthday party. It is always a gamble whenever you research the internet for accommodation and you are always very apprehensive until you reach your destination just in case you have made a bad choice! When we arrived at Hazel Brow House we realised straight away that this was one of the best decisions we have ever made! We walked in through the front door (after a very long journey) and were greeted with a roaring fire in the lounge which was very welcoming as the weather was cold and there was still some snow on the Dales. We all then scurried around the rest of the house like excited children exploring all the bedrooms and bathrooms, squealing with delight at what we found! All the bedrooms were furnished to a VERY high standard with a great deal of attention to detail. The curtains were beautifully made and the bed linen was of a very high quality. As for the beds – they were sooooooo comfortable (my husband and I were lucky and had the four poster bed!) The main bathroom with the lovely roll top bath was a real delight and enjoyed by many with bubbles in the bath but also with bubbles in the glass! The lounge, dining room and snug were all so welcoming and on the day of the party proved to be invaluable as there was plenty of room for people to spread out and enjoy the fires which had been lit in each of these rooms. The whole house is so well equipped and ideal for a party or gathering. The kitchen (where I spent a great deal of time as it was so lovely cooking on the aga) had everything you could wish for equipment wise and even had two sets of cutlery which meant we could use the ‘posh’ set when we had the birthday meal. My daughters were both delighted with the table in the dining room and really enjoyed decorating it, both for the party and the birthday meal in the evening. The crisp white tablecloth and napkins, the silver candlesticks and the ‘posh’ cutlery made the table look like something out of a Country Homes Magazine and was one of the things that attracted us to the house in the first place. The pantry proved to be very worthwhile as we had taken so much food and wine that had to be kept cool. The whole house felt like a home and not a holiday rental and we all felt very comfortable throughout our stay. Catherine, the owner came to visit on our arrival to check we had everything we needed and made sure we knew how to get in touch with her should we need to. We were presented with a little hamper with local cheese inside which was a lovely touch and there were flowers throughout the house too. The boot room was brilliant as my brother had brought his dog with him too and we were also able to leave our coats (and all our guests’ coats too) in this room with our walking boots etc. There was information about the local area and games etc. in the snug – ideal for enjoying whilst sat in front of the fire in the evening. The whole house was absolutely spotless! All the party guests were amazed at the property and wanted a guided tour. They will certainly be recommending it to their friends as we have already – our only regret was that we had not booked to stay for another couple of days! Thank you very much Catherine for all your help and letting us have the use of your beautiful property - if ever you decide to sell just let us know!!

10 of us stayed at Hazel Brow, in January 2015. The house is really beautiful, fantastic bedrooms, lovely living room with a real fire and fantastic country views. Lovely dining room too, big enough for all of us, with the same fabulous views. Catherine, the owner, was also incredibly accommodating, both with all our questions prior to arrival and also being so kind as to pick me up from the train station in Darlington, as I was arriving ĺate after a red eye flight. Quite a remote location but really beautiful- a getaway for spending time in beautiful surroundings with your nearest and dearest.

"Beautiful Place to Stay"
Hazel Brow is a beautiful house, with everything you could need for a holiday. I went with a group of friends just for a weekend. The house is large (big enough for a good game of hide and seek!) It was perfect for a dinner party on the saturday night. There's an aga and a cooker in the kitchen. The sitting room is cosy with an open fire and the bedrooms are lovely. It is situated in Swaledale which is great for walking and you can walk out of the back door down to a footpath along the Swale river.

"Perfect place to relax and catch up with friends in front of the fire"
As a group of friends spread around the country we needed somewhere for a relax and a catchup. After finding Hazel Brow we committed and made a long weekend of it for a birthday and pre-Christmas Christmas dinner. The house is amazing. The bedrooms are very spacious, some with en suites so as a large group we were not all living on top of each other. The living room was large enough for us all to fit in and be cosy in front of the fire with board games. There is also a smaller snug with its own fire. We had an excellent evening meal at the Punchbowl inn which is a mere five minute stroll. Some of us also managed the walk to the Tan Hill Inn, just over 10 miles over the moors (map and compass essential!). There is a boot room with connected wet room so ideal for hosing off muddy walking gear (or dogs if you have one). Catherine was really welcoming when we arrived even though we were a tad early. She obviously takes great pride in the house as it is perfect. Looking forward to another stay, hopefully for longer next time.

"Beautiful traditional country house in with a superb view"
House booked based on photographs from the web and the house far exceeded the expectations. Very large and spacious old country house with huge bedrooms. Driveway and car park are a little tight with multiple vehicles. Barbeque with outside table and benches whilst enjoying the view of the valley is a must.

"Lovely venue for an amazing stag do."
Situated in an ideal location for all our stag activities. The venue itself was spacious and had everything we needed. The standards of Hazel Brow were exceptional and the photos on the website don't do it justice. The BBQ area was lovely and the weather held out for us to have a great evening outside. Catherine, the owner was helpful and asked if there was anything we required at all, just to ask.
