Cottage | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 8
Beach Retreat is a single storey, 3 bedroom cottage which has ample space for 8 guests. It is ideally situated right next to the beach and the beautiful sandy dunes and benefits from stunning views.
Guest passes to the Ocean Club* (private club with swimming club, fitness suite and health and beauty spa) in Seahouses.
The cottage has beautiful wood flooring throughout. There is a large lounge, which has views to the sea from south facing windows. It is equipped with a large flat screen TV with freeview, and DVD player. As you would expect from a family home, the kitchen is well equipped with hob, double oven, large fridge, dishwasher, microwave and a dining table for informal meals. The cottage also has a washing machine, tumble drier and freezer. All rooms are heated by electric wall heaters which are independently operated.
The dining room, adjacent to the kitchen, has a door which leads out to the garden and a large porch that has become a useful drying and storage area – ideal for outdoor clothes and wet suits. There are two double bedrooms and a third bedroom which has 2 sets of bunkbeds. All the bedrooms benefit from south facing windows with views of the boat yard and beach. There is also plenty of drawer and hanging space in each room.
There is a modern family bathroom with bath and shower attachment, WC and hand basin. Next to the bathroom is the shower room which has a double size shower cubicle and WC.
At the front of the cottage there is a grassed area, ideal for enjoying the afternoon and evening sun and Newton Bay beyond. The beach – a safe, sandy expanse which stretches south to Dunstanburgh Castle – is just a few steps from the house and the proximity of the small village green with the much praised Ship Inn is an added bonus.
* Please note, the Ocean Club membership pass allows entry to this private Club. There is a charge to pay per visit of £6 per adult and £3 per child (Children under 2 go free).

Northern England region
The Northumberland coastline is a land far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in a county brimming with things to do and places to see amongst the most spectacular of landscapes.
Explore mile upon mile of the wonderful uncrowded golden sandy beaches and stunning countryside set amongst two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the rugged Northumberland National Park. Discover more castles than anywhere else in England, the birthplace of English Christianity on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, the historic World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall, stunning Alnwick Garden picturesque towns and villages and much more.
There are plenty of golf courses and lots of activities and some great walking.
From Beach Retreat, walking along the beach southwards, you will reach Embleton Bay (approx. 1 mile). To cross the river you have to walk inland, passing Dunstanborough Castle Golf Clubhouse, before continuing South towards the ruins of the 13th Century Dunstanborough Castle. From Beach Retreat this is about a 2 mile walk. If you fancy trying some traditional Craster Kippers, keep going for another 30 minutes to Craster village.
If you head north you can walk along to Newton Point and then you come to Football Hole, a small, often quiet bay between Newton Bay and Beadnell Bay. If you want to head back inland it is possible to do so and you will come out at the end of the road at the Joiners Arms pub, about 1 hour road trip. This is a busy family friendly pub open 7 days a week. The other pub in Newton, The Ship Inn, is about a one minutes walk from the Beach Retreat, in the main square, famous at lunch time for its crab sandwiches.
