A beautifully renovated 3 bedroom countryside villa with a large private pool set in a scenic cork oak valley 4km north of São Bras. An ideal location for hiking, cycling and exploring the unspoilt, hilly terrain.

A splendid landscaped exterior with many large terraces, patios and cobbled pathways lead from the main house to the water feature and down to the 10 x 5 metre swimming pool next to the annexed one bedroom cottage. Beside the cottage there is a lawned garden and an outdoor shower. The pool has an optional jet stream current for swimming exercise.

The main house has a spacious interior and many traditional features, high ceilings allow for coolness and terraces lead from French windows onto the covered patio. The lounge is comfortably furnished and the open plan kitchen has all modern appliances. Leading off the lounge there is a small mezzanine bedroom with a double bed and an en suite bathroom. Further through is the master en suite bedroom with air conditioning andFrench windows opening onto a patio. The annex cottage is also air conditioned and has a large double bedroom/lounge and bathroom, with sliding glass doors opening onto the covered terrace with seating and to the poolside. A very inviting and relaxing, quality property with beautiful surroundings and tranquility!

Six quality teak sun loungers deck the terrace around the pool and there are sun umbrellas, various tables and chairs available.

10 m x 5 m with a Roman end with steps leading into a shallow end of 1 m and a deep end of 2 m. Freshwater pool with a salt cleaning system. The pool is serviced twice weekly during summer and once weekly during the rest of the year by a competent and reliable professional. Pool and garden lighting is available. There is a jet stream facility you can use for exercising by swimming against the current.

There are some local shops and cafés 1.5km away, in Alportel. The nearest larger shops are in Sao Bras 3 kilometers away.

Beaches around Vilamoura and Tavira are equidistant from the Quinta da Cortiça, being about 40 minutes drive away.

There are excellent golf courses within 35 to 45 minutes drive from the accommodation. The closest are around Vilamoura and Cabanas.

Car hire is essential for this property. Car rental, taxi transfers and bicycle hire can be organized with local reputable firms in advance or by calling the local representative.

The city of Faro is the capital of the Algarve and main doorway for tourism, however, Faro is also a beautiful and historic town of its own accord.

Faro was constructed in the Moorish era, but during the earthquake of 1755 most of the old buildings were destroyed. Within the old city 'Cidade Velha' you can visit theGothic church of Sé, in amongst cobbled streets and white washed buildings set within sturdy town walls. The main appeal is the clock tower which you can climb up for superb views over the surrounding coastland. Another church worth visiting is the Largo do Carmo, which has a chapel built from human bones and skulls … not recommended for the faint hearted!

Faros' commercial part of the city is pedestrianized and is a haven for shoppers. While the nearby 'Forum Algarve' shopping centre is a great last minute drop-in for gift purchasing before catching your plane.

Culturally Faro, Loulé and further west offer a wide selection of festivals, concerts and events during the summer months.
