The Algarve / Central Algarve region
Early in the year the coast is painted white with almond blossom shading the many varieties of wild orchids, followed by the heady perfume of orange blossom mixing with the block acacias. During the Spring the cascades of wild flowers mingle and shock with the riotous palate created by the many colourful birds. Summer is the time for cherries, strawberries and melons, followed in early Autumn by grapes, figs, and almonds. In November, chestnuts are traditionally gathered for the national festival of Sao Martinho, while in December it is time to start picking the famous sweet juicy Algarve oranges which continue through to March. The market town of Loule is a short drive away, and pretty Algarve villages to the north of the property are a must to visit, including Alte with it's natural spring, and the gently rolling hills around Salir and Querenca.
The Loule area
The old town of Loule which is 10 mins drive is wrapped in history with its castle and recently restored market area, selling fresh local produce which will cater for all your shopping needs. Saturday is market day in Loule or if you prefer you can visit Villamoura where you can enjoy a host of activities famous for its many golf courses also sea fishing, boat trips & clay shooting can be arranged. There is also the busy marina which is surrounded by shops and restaurants. During the summer months the local villages have there annual 'festas' where locals and visitors alike meet to enjoy traditional fayre and music, under the warm Algarvian evenings. On the coast there are seafood and sardine festivals throughout the summer along with many live music concerts. Water parks are also close at hand as is the ever popular Zoomarine, where you can experience dolphin interaction, or simply enjoy the spectacular show. Interaction with the dolphins can be arranged in advance, along with entrance tickets to the water parks. Nearby in Pera there is the annual sand sculpture exhibition

Annarosa is a well appointed comfortable house set in a quiet rural location. We found it ideal for a relaxing week enjoying a glass of wine in the sun or having an end of season swim in the pool It was a good base for exploring the Algarve.
