The Algarve region

The Algarve has long been a favourite destination for the holidaymaker from the UK, so much so that more people talk of holidays in the Algarve than holidays in Portugal. The Algarve takes its name from the Arabic Al Gharb meaning 'country to the west' – and that is all the history you are going to find here – promise! There will be no mention of Visigoths, Romans, Punic wars or Rococo architecture – only useful information for planning your holiday to the Algarve.

The south facing Algarve coast is just under 100 miles long and caters superbly for a variety of Algarve holidays. The main attraction is of course the Algarve weather. Average temperatures in the Winter are around 15 to 20 degrees (60 to 70 in old money!) and 21 to 32 in the summer when the Summer heat is tempered by agreeable Atlantic breezes. This Algarve climate which also enjoys the most year-round sunshine in Europe, makes the Algarve resorts ideal for year round holidays.

Loule area

Loule is a rural administrative and active market town with some remains of a castle dating back to the 12th Century. The Arab castle has been virtually destroyed leaving some walls still standing that are now surrounded by modern buildings. Like most other towns in the Algarve, most of the older potentially interesting buildings have been destroyed in the earthquake that occurred in 1755.

Within the remaining walls is a museum with an explanation of what was in the past the grandeur of the castle. The various earthquakes that it has suffered through its history have damaged the 13th Century Church of São Clemente. However, its Gothic arches and side chapels that are from the 16th Century have survived.

The town of Loule, consisting of some 20,000 residents, is mainly concerned with producing souvenir products made out of copperware, leather, cane and wood, to service the tourist industry. The weekly Fair attracts tourists from all along the Algarve. Due to the demands of tourism, this town has blossomed in size. An important event is the annual Carnival held in February that is considered to be one of the best in Portugal. In the town there is a Museum that is devoted to the local industry of dried fruits and it is interesting to see how these products are prepared for the public.

To the west of the town is a hilltop Church that is built on the site of a 16th Century chapel. This is the destination of an annual religious procession that requires some physical effort on the part of the bearers of the church's religious shrines.

The property is ideally suited for outdoor dining and entertaining. A large bar area having ice machine, wine cooler and large barbeque, which is adjacent to the large pool and jacuzzi, provides visitors with exceptional facilities for outdoor entertainment.
The nightclub opens (via two sets of double doors) onto the terrace for dining and dancing, by day or night !
There are external Bose speakers linked from the nightclub, which can be directed into courtyard and terrace.
There is also a tennis court within the grounds for the sole use of guests.

We are also pleased to offer an airport collection service between the property and Faro International Airport, for both your arrival and departure when we will greet you at the airport and ensure your transport requirements have been met, then escort you to the villa (Transport not provided).

Conditions

Bookings are secured by a 25% deposit. If paying by cheque, please make payable to Godkin Holdings. If you wish to pay by direct transfer, please contact us for our bank account details. The balance must be settled 4 weeks prior to your stay. A refundable damage deposit of £1,000 is also required 4 weeks prior to your stay. This will be refunded to you at the end of your stay, assuming no damage has been caused to the property or its contents.
