The area has a famous mountain Croagh Patrick, nearby town Westport boasts many lovely restaurants, Bicycle trail in westport to Achill island. From Louisbourgh one can easily take ferry to Clare Island. Delphi adventure center nearby also Leenane famous for the film the quiet man.Old head is a blue flag beach.. which means it is very clean and safe to swim. There is always a life guard on duty during the summer months.

Old Head beach apartment is and amazing property situated right on the beach... the back garden leads straight down to beach..at high tide it is a wonderful experience.... like being on a ship!

The North West Ireland / County Mayo region
North West Ireland is a fisherman’s paradise, with a host of outdoor activities on offer. ..There are also a range of golf courses, walking and horse riding opportunities too. There is a famous holy mountain 'Croagh Patrick' which attracts many thousands throughout the year.. In July there is an annual pilgrimidge up the mountain. There are some fabulous beaches to surf on... surf lessons during summer months... Lovely resturaunts....There is the most amazing drive between Louisburgh and Lenane (famous for the movie 'the Quiet man') Breath taking views of mountains and valleys.Delphi lodge and adventure center is 15 Km away where you can kayak, hill climb and many other activities or just relax in the spa.
The Louisburgh / Old Head Beach area
Louisburgh is a very small town on the north west coast of Ireland. It is very friendly and extrememly welcoming. There are some lovely pubs and resturaunts in Louisburgh. In July there is a famous music festival. It is surrounded by some fabulous beaches, including Old Head.

We stayed here for four nights. It is a really superb location. From the balcony one is looking directly onto Old Head Beach. Croagh Patrick is also visible from the apartment. It is a lovely area... more |
