A recently converted chapel set in the heart of a rural French village, but with easy access to main travel routes, including Bergerac (25 mins) and Bordeaux (1hr 15 mins) airports. The property features three bedrooms, an open-plan living space and a private pool. The original chapel provides the main, double-height lounge area, opening into the new lounge/dining area. The dining area features 5m bi-fold doors which open onto a terrace and 8x4m private swimming pool. For ease of access, one double bedroom (with en-suite shower room) is situated on the ground floor, making it ideal for people that find it difficult to negotiate steps. A cast iron spiral staircase leads from the lounge to the first floor onto a large landing area, leading to a double bedroom, twin bedroom (en-suite bathroom) and shower room. A balcony which overlooks the pool is accessible from the bedrooms. The village has a bar and restaurant plus a shop which is ideal for food and essential items, plus fresh daily bread and croissants!

The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

Set in the SW of France, the Aquitaine region is steeped in history, including English occupation by Richard The Lionheart. Numerous chateaux are dotted throughout the region and many are set in spectacular locations and are open to the public. The chateau at Beynac on a hilltop overlooking the Dordogne River is well worth a visit.

The region is particularly famous for its Bordeaux and Bergerac wines. It's impossible to drive anywhere without seeing a vineyard, so wine in plentiful in the region. The famous St Emilion appelation is only 40 minutes away and the picturesque town itself is set on a hillside and well worth a visit.

Bordeaux is France's fourth largest city and is located an hour away on the Garonne river. If it's history and cafe culture you enjoy, the city is a delight to visit.

In 2014 on 25 July, the Tour de France passes through Eymet and Bergerac, only 20 minutes from the chapel.

Loubes Bernac

Set on the Dordogne/Lot et Garonne border, the area is well known for the River Dordogne, vineyards and lovely hot summers. There's plenty to do in the area, with a range of activities (such as canoeing, horse riding, go-karting) for adults and children alike. Night markets are held in most of the local towns throughout July and August, where you can sit outside and eat and drink local produce al fresco while listening to live music. The temperature in the summer months is in the high 30's making a dip in the pool a delight. If you're looking to head to the sea, the closest beach is at Arcachon, a two hour drive westwards. Close to Arcachon is the Dune de Pyla, the highest sand dune in Europe at over 300ft - well worth a day trip!
