Lossiemouth

Situated on the North East Coast of Scotland, Lossiemouth is favoured by the mild Gulf Stream air, miles of excellent beaches and beautiful surrounding countryside.

The town began as a port at the mouth of the River Lossie to help the town of Elgin in trading. The port is now a busy town itself and a spectacular marina has been developed in the twin basined harbour. The town known affectionately as simply ‘Lossie’ offers something for everyone.

Visitors can enjoy long walks, spectacular scenery and beautiful sandy beaches. The West Beach passing the landmark of Covesea Lighthouse is some 3 miles long. The East Beach, characterised by its sand dunes which run parallel to the sea and the river, stretches even further. It is reached by a wooden pedestrian bridge over the river Lossie. The bridge was built originally to encourage day trippers on the old Moray Railway to visit the town in the summer months.

Lossiemouth is superb for sailing or to take a boat ride for dolphin spotting or sea angling. Surfers can enjoy the waves at Lossiemouth.

Moray Golf Club by the West Beach has 2 fine golf courses. The Old classic Links course designed by Tom Morris in 1889 and the new precision golf course by Henry Cotton in 1979. A regular venue for Championships and a haven for golfers.

"Enjoyed our stay"

I spent 3 nights at Lossie Cottage with my husband, 4 year old son, sister and her family. The cottage was clean and well equipped. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. … More

Thank you for taking the time to review Lossie Cottage and I am glad that you enjoyed your short break in Lossiemouth.

We are obliged to comply with fire regulations which require us to leave the the upstairs window unlocked as means of escape in the event of fire however keys are available to parents of young children to lock the windows on request.

As we like to make it easy for guests to book with us we don't charge a refundable up front good housekeeping deposit, however we do ask that that the cottage is left reasonably tidy on departure as is usually the case with self catering properties. A charge would only be made if the property was left damaged or required any specialist cleaning.

"Good, spacious, clean place in central location"

Very flexible booking at late, last minute. House was in great downtown location very nearby to restaurants and shops/market. Loved having a REAL baby cot. Baby chair was also great. Microwave didn't work for us and and kitchen had only basic pots/pans. (A big stock pot w/lid for making soups/chilli would have been nice.) Also, only 2 rolls of TP and 1 washcloth in bathroom. However, owner was very responsive to provide keys to lock upstairs windows and likely would have done the same for these amenities had we asked. With three bedrooms, this is a great, spacious home that was very comfortable and simply but tastefully decorated. Above-average holiday cottage.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. I hope you and your family are now settled in more permanent lodgings in Moray. We are glad we could help you with accommodation at such short notice.

I would like to address a few of the issues highlighted in your report to clarify things for anyone reading.

Lossie Cottage is a self catering holiday cottage and as is standard with accommodation of this type although we provide a couple of loo rolls as part of our welcome pack any further supplies are the for the guest to provide.

The same applies to personal wash cloths/flannels etc - we do not provide these as guests prefer to use their own!

Cooking equipment in the kitchen comprises: A set of 3 lidded pans, a large stockpot, a large lidded saute pan and 3 frying pans of various sizes which I'm sure is sufficient for most families catering requirements on holiday.

The microwave which stopped working during your stay has now been replaced.

"Wonderful week"

The cottage was spacious, airy, clean and well decorated and furnished. We were really pleased with the location and had a wonderful time. Although the accommodation is for sleeping 6 there is plenty of room for 7 and a baby! We will definitely attempt to book again for next year although I feel this may be difficult. A wonderful time was had by all.
Many many thanks.
