The Tenerife region
Tenerife retains a large attraction for British holiday makers because of a unique mix of factors. The climate, which is uniformly good throughout the year, with only an average of 14 days rain per year it provides an ideal antidote to the unpredictability of our own weather. Tenerife makes every effort to offer the visitor an enjoyable experience. Tenerife South Airport is modern and provides an easy travel experience for the passenger. The beaches and shopping centres are well designed and maintained.
The Spanish tourist industry is well regulated with complexes using a “Key” rating system similar to our own “star” hotel accommodation. Hotels use the “Star” in much the same way. The whole economy of the South of Tenerife is based around the tourist: Prices and services are much cheaper than in the UK. Taxis, dining out, night life, shopping are all a fraction of UK prices. In the South of Tenerife English is the dominant language. The flying time to the sun takes an average of 4Hrs and 15 mins from the UK, an important consideration in terms of costs, and also for those who don’t enjoy long haul flights. All of these combine to make Tenerife a consistently favourite destination of the British.
Los Cristianos / Arona area
Azahara Playa is ideally situated on the borders of los Cristianos and Las Americas. The old town of LC provides a strong contrast from the more recent developments further up the coast. The alleyways and steep pedestrianised walkways of LC are full of locally run shops and bars. Here it is possible to experience more of the old fishing village of Los C and a Spanish way of life.
The district of San Telmo lies between Azahara and the busy port of LC. This area has a terrace of bars and restaurants with panoramic views of Playa Las Vistas. Las Americas holds the major tourist attractions and night life for which the resort is famous. Les Pyramides and “Son et Lumiere” fountain show at night are a must. The large shopping malls with designer shops and boutiques will offer something even to the most discerning customer.
A walk to old Los Cristianos takes via San Telmo, a lively terraced district with many local bars and restaurants with spectacular views to the sea. The cuisine on offer ranges from local tapas bars and cafes offering English food to Chinese or Italian. A must is the Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant which you can walk to from the apartment. Not only is the food excellent but the performance of the chef cooking at the table is a sheer delight. On certain days of the week many bars have live music and dancing.
Immediately after San Telmo you will pass the road to the port. Down from here several fresh fish stores are at the entrance, whilst in the port itself are many booths advertising numerous boat trips. Turning up the hill from the port will bring you into the charming and quaint streets of pedestrianised Los Cristianos.

Further details indoors: This spacious apartment is a mere 150 metres from the beach and a lift takes you from and down to street level, Calle Finlandia. The other side of the hotel is the Mencey Shopping Centre including an excellent supermarket at 50 metres distance, which includes an excellent delicatessen, fresh bread bakery and extensive fish counter.
The bedroom contains 2 single beds and mirror fitted wardrobes. The living/dining area has two comfortable single sofa beds, coffee table, dining table and 4 chairs. The fitted kitchen has a 4 ring hob, microwave oven, fridge with freezer compartment, toaster and kettle. We also provide TV, DVD and CD/radio player. Guests are welcome to bring their own favourite DVDs and CDs. The apartment also has an iron and ironing board. The bathroom contains a bath with overhead shower, sink, bidet and WC. The balcony has a table and 4 chairs with an extendible clothes dryer. There is a laundrette at 2 minutes walk in the direction of San Telmo, which offers service washes.
Further details outdoors: Ocean Azahara Playa is situated in Los Cristianos on the south west coast of Tenerife, a mere 15km from Tenerife South airport. It was formerly an apart/hotel and has excellent facilities. As the name suggests it was built to enjoy the views of Playa de las Vistas, which was created with the soft, golden sand shipped from the Sahara dessert. Unlike many of the original volcanic black sand beaches, this golden beach is ideal for family swims and sunbathing. The apartment balcony looks onto the pool, the ocean and Mount Chayofita.
There is a large selection of clothes shops and as you walk onto the square all the main Spanish banks are represented including a branch of Barclay's. All this is less than 10 minutes walk from Ocean Azahara Playa.
