The Tenerife region
The Canary Islands form a volcanic group of seven main islands situated off the north African coast with Mount Tiede on Tenerife dominating the landscape.
The Mount Tiede national park is a must with its lunar landscape and a trip to the top of the crater in the cable car. The region is famous for its bananas and tomatoes with temperatures of 18 to 26 degrees all year round, known as the Island of Eternal Spring.
An ideal summer and winter destination, there is more to Tenerife than beaches, with the quaint villages and the ancient towns there is plenty to see and do.
Los Cristianos / Cristian Sur area
Los Cristianos has its roots in a small fishing village. Although dominated by tourism it still retains some of the character that makes it different from its brash neighbour Las Americas. The fishing fleet is still present as are the fish stalls, where you can purchase fresh fish daily.
The main harbour and Las Vistas beaches are within 10 minutes stroll, through the town, both have golden sand, not normally associated with Tenerife. Las Vistas Beach has a Blue Flag Award.
Visit Loro Park/Zoo (great for the kids), the Water Park, Mount Tiede National Park or play a round of golf on the many nearby courses which are within minutes drive from the complex, or why not visit the quaint island of La Gomera on the new fast ferry from Los Cristianos port.
Whale/dolphin watching (see photo) and fishing trips are available from the harbour The open air market takes place every Sunday, only 5 minutes walk away. 3 minutes walk to main Los Cristianos bus station.
Shops, restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk with Hypermarket (Trebol) and town centre being less than 10 minutes walk.
How to get there
20 minutes from airport by taxi. Cost of approximately 25 euros. There is also a bus service from the airport (less than 2 euros) to within 3 minutes walk from the apartment
Budget flights from the UK by Easyjet, Ryanair, Jet2, Monarch, Globespan. Rule of thumb is the further in advance you are able to book your flights then the cheaper they are.
