About the home

This spacious studio apartment is furnished to a very high standard and consists of a lounge with sectioned off bedroom area, kitchen/dining area, small utility/storage room and bathroom. It's in an excellent location right at the entrance to the Port Royale complex (facing Reception) and on the same level as the shared pool and sunbathing area - the on-site Italian restaurant is also just around the corner (handy for take aways)! A number of shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants surround the complex or alternatively the resort centre of Los Cristianos and the Las Vistas beach are a 15-20 minutes stroll downhill.

The lounge has a leather sofa, a very comfortable sofa bed and coffee table and has all the mod cons including satellite TV (showing 20 plus channels including BBC1, Sky Sports, Movies, etc.) a DVD player and a CD Player. The air conditioning/cooler unit is also located in the lounge.

Both the kitchen and bathroom have been upgraded and again feature all your home from home essentials. The kitchen has a 4-ring hob, tabletop mini oven/grill, toaster, kettle and washing machine - the microwave and fridge freezer are located in the utility room. The dining table seats 4 and there's an ample supply of glass, cutlery and tableware.

The bedroom consists of twin beds and there are two double wardrobes (including a chest of drawers) located at the back of the apartment - one of which contains the electronic safe which can be programmed with your own personal code for use during your stay.

Further details outdoors:
You can access the apartment's large balcony/terrace via the front door or the french doors, there are two sunloungers which can be taken to the pool if all the free beds there are taken or which can be positioned on the more private sunbathing terrace adjacent to our apartment. The patio set seats 4 and is a great place to sit and enjoy your take away Italian meal from the Bella Roma (with a glass or two of wine of course) and watch the world go by!

Further details

The apartment is thoroughly cleaned prior to your arrival (beds made and towels provided) and you are free to use the washing machine to freshen up your bed linen and towels during your stay as need be.

The Tenerife region

Best time to go: March to May (except Easter) and November are best for value in terms of flight prices. December to February is busiest and most expensive and the summer months attract a large number of Spanish tourists. But Tenerife has a good year-round climate ranging from 18C/64F in winter to 24C/75F in summer. Temperatures can soar to 30C/86F in August.

One of the joys of holidaying in Tenerife is indulging in duty-free (or low-duty) shopping, and Los Cristianos and the surrounding area boasts a multitude of shops where it is easy to spend liberally on perfumes, tobacco, electrical goods, cameras and designer clothing. Handicrafts and cultured pearls are also popular buys for souvenir hunters, but these are best sought in reputable stores rather than from seafront hawkers.

Local supermarkets stock familiar British brands, particularly the Spar in the new Passaralla Centre (5 minutes away from Port Royale) and those located in the large San Eugene Centre.

A tourist street market is held in Los Cristianos every Sunday near the Hotel Arona Gran, from approx 9.00am – 2.00pm, where most merchandise is cheap and cheerful tat, but there is fun to be had in haggling.

The Los Cristianos area

The popular resort of Los Cristianos lies in a sheltered bay in the south-west corner of the island of Tenerife, merging into the more glitzy purpose-built resort of Playa de las Americas. Los Cristianos has burgeoned into a modern package-tour resort from its origins as a sleepy Canarian fishing village, but has managed to retain some of its traditional feel, despite the plethora of modern hotels, shopping centres and apartment blocks.

The focal point of the resort is its working harbour, fronted by a square surrounded with restaurants, and sandy beaches encircling a crescent-shaped bay backed by a long, wide promenade that stretches to neighbouring Playa de las Americas – and for most, if not all visitors to the resort, it is now impossible to determine where Los Cristianos actually ends and Playa de las Americas begins! Being just a few minutes away by cheap taxi from Playa de las Americas allows holidaymakers in Los Cristianos to enjoy a more sedate stay, while still able to access the bright lights and entertainment facilities of the more boisterous neighbour, especially when it comes to nightlife.

The activities and excursions are too numerous to detail but we keep a file in the apartment which will give you a taste of what's available - Mount Tiede, the Aqualand water park and the Jungle Park are nearby and well worth a visit and the Loro Parque (Tenerife's Zoo) in Santa Cruz is amazing if you are willing to travel for an hour or two by coach to get there.
