Home description
The El Cardon complex is situated within a tasteful, upmarket tourist resort, literally 5 minutes walk from the prettiest beach on the island and its watersports, plus a large number of restaurants, pubs, tapas bars, icecream parlours and clubs on the coastline & in the vicinity. The delightful promenade stretches to Los Cristianos town as far as the Sunday market; walk the other way for the hustle and bustle of Las Americas (almost on the border), or as far as Fañabe, passing alternative beaches & large range of shops etc.
Shop till you drop at the local upmarket Safari shopping centre or the quaint bohemian shops of Los Cristianos itself (town centre 7 minutes on foot). The immediate area offers a huge range of cuisine including Canarian, Italian, Indian, Chinese, steak houses, tapas and international. Alternatively, eat , drink and be merry on the apartment balcony, as you soak in the relaxing atmosphere/sun or enjoy the twilight, smoky mountain views. The pool is heated for those slightly cooler winter months and there is a shallow pool for children.
Think beach holiday, romantic break for couples of any age or bolthole for small families (children/tots most welcome). Enjoy fun days out or simply relax/chill out while you enjoy the gastronomy or bottle or two of wine/sangria. You may prefer to go fishing or play golf or for the more active, to swim, go water or jet ski-ing, paragliding and/or scuba diving. And, just imagine, you can do this at any time of year because of Tenerife’s temperate climate. Definitely an alternative to the cheesy, all-British, on-site entertainment syndrome!! The community is international and includes locals, those from the north of the island, mainland Spain, the UK, Italy, Belgium, France, Holland and Scandinavia etc.

The Tenerife region
El Cristianos was formerly, before the advent of tourism, a fishing village. It has managed to retain its appeal, enjoying a Spanish feel, some great fish restaurants and excellent tapas bars/cafes, shopping for leather and embroidered goods, perfumes, cosmetics, cameras and electronic goods etc, due to its tax-free status. Its established international popularity has turned it into a recognised municipality of repute. It is more difficult, now, to discern where Los Cristianos ends and Las Americas starts. If it is the bright disco lights and clubland of Playa de las Americas you want, then you have a 20-min walk or if you're feeling lazy, a short inexpensive cab ride.
For something totally different and a day out, get the Fred Olsen ferry to La Gomera, the closest island to Tenerife, with its lush, magical forests and scenery.
Tenerife enjoys a temperate climate, no extremes of heat or cold normally, but sun most days, meaning a temperature 19-25 degrees during January to March and usually not exceeding 30 degrees during the remaining months of the year. You can pack light, no matter what the time of year. It can be windy, especially near the airport where windsurfing is popular, also in El Médano with its beautiful long stretch of beach, and you may also experience the odd thunderstorm.
Places of interest include the main town square and cultural centre, the giant cliffs of Los Gigantes, halfway up the western coast, Mount Teide (central, visible from anywhere on the island) and surrounding scenic driving routes in the mountainous areas and its cosmic appeal.
Los Cristianos / Arona area
Excursions and attractions include the new Aqualand on the Costa Adeje (largest in Europe); you might combine this with a trip to the Tenerife Zoo Monkey Park (Los Cristianos). For a great day out, make sure you go to Loro Parque, the world-renowned zoo / animal park in Puerto de la Cruz in the north, the biggest attraction. The second most popular attraction is Parque Los Aguilas or Eagle Park in Los Cristianos. Local places to eat include Adeje, a pretty town 5km from the coast, with its noted spicy chicken and chips recipe, popular generally My favourite local town to enjoy an evening meal is Los Abrigos for unpretentious, yet excellent value, fresh seafood around the bay, patronised by locals There is a weekly Sunday market in Los Cristianos; follow the throng. Nightclubs and nightlife are plentiful in nearby Las Americas. There are some great sports/theme/football bars including the infamous Linekers; football fans will not be disappointed in Tenerife!
How to get there
Best value airlines are www.flymonarch.com (from Luton/Manchester etc); www.thomsonfly.com operate from Luton & Gatwick - all to Sofia Reina Airport, Tenerife South.
