Los Cristianos

The apartment is 5 minutes walk from the beach and supermarket that bakes lovely fresh bread. There are plenty of local restaurants offering a host of cuisines, and entertainment for those who want it.

Los Cristianos is an old fishing village,which manages to retain some of the old town feel whilst combining it with an array of shops and restaurants.The harbour is 15 minutes stroll away and boat trips are widely available to see dolphins, go fishing , or take a ferry to visit the secluded island of La Gomera.

There are water parks,sky parks and animal parks within half an hour,Free buses go to the water parks just down the road from the apartment.

Mount Teide is about an hour away with its spectacular scenery and views.

Golf courses feature around the local area and can booked in advance

"THINK CAREFULLY!"

We ( myself, husband and mother) arrived on saturday evening at 8.30pm. Driections to apartment were as stated on the information received with the keys. You access the complex through a large iron gate. Unfortunately the key that heather, the owner sent us was not the right one! We rang the emergency contact number on the instructions we had been sent, and got no reply. As there was no one around, i had to climb over the gate, as i was half way over an couple arrived and let us in. We expected there to have been the correct key in the apartment...Unfortunately not. I took all the keys there were avaialbalble back down to the gate, none of them worked. Whilst i was trying the keys a resident approached me and said i could buzz myself out i didn't need the key. After explaining the problem she askeds me which apartment i was staying in and she said, that the people who had stayed there last week had had the same problem. She also went on to explain that the complex was entirely residential and not for short term holiday lets, all the gates on the site including the one to pool area, garage and rubbish had all been updated. On contacting heather by phone, she said she thougth she'd sent the right keys as the ones she'd sent to the previous family had also been wrong. She had no idea where "sue" the emergency contact was but she would try and get hold of her. Again, this wasn't possible. It transpired after multiple calls that there was no key to gate as the previous weeks tennants had taken the only one home with them. On asking how we were going to get in and out, to enable us to get something to eat, she suggested that one of us stayed in and the others could go and bring back a takeaway!!! She apologised about the key but said she didn't know what else she could do. Fortunately the couple who had originally let us in said if we need any help to just ask them, so after going to their apartment, they very kindly said they would "buzz us back in if we weren't going to be too long as they were going out later. I received no contact again from the owner and had to ring her on sunday morning, she had had contact from sue (the emergency contact) who was away, but they would try and get the cleaner to come with a spare key. I asked again what we were supposed to do to get and out and she suggested the garage exit as it had a numbered key pad. What a surprise.. The number she gave us didn't work. ( we were later told by the president of the complex that the garage door is operated by fob and the key pad has not worked for a while). Yet again we were stuck in, or could only go out in rotation. After several more calls/texts heather advised us that they couldn't get hold of the cleaner but hopefully she would be able to at some stage and get a key to us. On speaking to a resident they told us to contact the president of the site and he very kindly lent us his garage door fob. He said if we returned on monday am he would give us a key so we could get one cut. He again reiterated that there should be no short term holiday lets at this property. I received a text from heather at 9pm on sunday night to state the cleaner wouldn't be coming that day, but would come sometime on monday. Which thankfully she did. In addition to this appalling and quite honestly inexcusable set of circumstances, the pool was unuseable. It was taped off for maintenance work, and on 3 of the days had digging and ground works being done on it. The president advised us that the owner would have been well aware of this situation in advance, but she had not deemed it necessary to notify her paying customers. Heather did not make any follow up contact with us to ensure that the key situation had been resolved. The positives regarding the holiday were that the property was well appointed, comfortable and very clean .It should be noted that, my husband struggled a little in the upstairs bathroom and bedroom due to sloping ceilings (he is 5ft10). It is a good 20-25 minutes walk into the centre of los cristianos (which incidently, we had to do twice a day as the pool area was out of use), so not really suitable for people with small children or who have limited walking abilities. However there is a small number of bars and restaurants within 5 -10 mins walk. I would not recommend this property, purely on the fact of the two days stress i had over the keys and worrying at 45 years old whether i would have to scale a 6/7 ft fence to get back in after going out and the fact there was no pool.

This is the first time I have experienced such problems in 8 years. Unfortunately I was unaware of the temporary problem with the pool,which has now reopened, and all problems with the keys have been resolved.

"brilliant"

a lovely apartment in a good location with a few bars and resturaunts/supermarket close by,for the more lively the centre is approx 3 quarters of a mile away with a walk down the esplanade for the more adventurous the bus station is close by(very cheap if you get a bono ticket). heather the owner was very helpfull with information!. all in all we could'nt fault it and would definitley return to the apartment should we return to tenerife next year

"Great Apartment"

I stayed at Heather's apartment with 3 children, and we had a lovely time. Loved the rooftop patio, sunbathed up there mornings and evenings. NIce and spacious, fold out couch bed in the main room was great, safe was very easy to use. Had everything we could need in the apartment, with several restaurants and bars a few minutes walk. Very clean Pool, kids loved it. Woud definately stay there again. Dave and Family.

"Great winter sunshine"

Our first attempt at an independent holiday rather than package, and brilliant experience. Communication with owner excellent. Property was clean and very well equipped - like home from home. Secure parking excellent for hire car with no worries finding parking on road. Sun on balconies, particularly roof balcony, most of the day but unfortunately not early evening (March) for relaxing outside with pre-dinner drink. Easy 10 min walk to Los Cristianos promenade, and even along to Playa De Las Americas. Plenty of restaurants, although we mainly self-catered from the very good Spar supermarket in town. Great cycling area up into the hills for my husband, and we all managed to walk up the mountain/hill that you could see from the apartment (all in our 60s). Altogether a great holiday and would return for some winter sunshine.

"Fabulous apartment in great location"

Home from Home! Everything you needed for a perfect holiday was supplied. Great location in quiet residential area but within easy walking distance of the beaches and bars of Los Christianos and Playa de Las Americas. Short taxi ride from TFS airport and garage available for the hire car. We will definitely be going back
