|Further details outdoors|
El Cardon is a private residential complex with local people living here.
The apartment has a large terrace on the ground floor which does not get direct sun and is a nice escape from the hot sun which has been known to reach nearly 40 degrees. The best place for sun worshippers is by the pool - a few yards away.
The apartment is near a locked gate which leads to a pedestrianised walkway to 'The Golden Mile' shops, Las Vistas beach and supermarkets. Only residents get a key to these gates.
The complex is always kept clean and tidy with cleaners and a handy man in attendance every day. The gardens, plants and pots are tended by the gardeners. Reception have lots of excursion information.
The pool is safe and meets Spanish safety standards which ensures pools are not accessible unless you have a key to get into the gated surrounds. It is slightly heated salt water and is a lovely way to cool down when the sun gets too hot. There are also showers there to use before going into the pool.
The pool area is a real sun trap and is usually quiet and peaceful as most people are local and at work during the day.
The local supermarket is similar to Waitrose and Asda and sells almost everything. The locals use it and it is very reasonably priced. They have fresh meat, fish, fruit and veg daily and bake bread and cakes every morning... lovely fresh bread and cake aroma reaches the apartment.
£50 damage bond/deposit is payable upon confirming the booking.
Balance required 6 weeks before or immediately if booking is within 6 weeks.
Payment possible by Pay Pal.
The Canary Islands region
Tenerife enjoys year round sun with temperatures ranging from 16 - 29 degrees (annual average of 22 degrees C (71.6ºF).
The warmest weather is in the South West whilst El Teide, the North and the National Park can be cooler.
The Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a must see and is similar to the carnival at Rio de Janeiro. Santa Cruz is also ideal for those wanting to explore a bigger town with a city feel. Also look out for local Los Cristianos festivals.
Check this website for things to do - http://www.discovertenerife.net
Loro parque is home to a parrot collection of over 300 species. There is a sea-lion show as well as dolphins, parrots, aquarium with sharks, gorillas, chimpanzees, flamingos, tigers, jaguars, alligators, and an orchid house. There is also the worlds' largest penguinarium which enables the penguins to enjoy fresh snowfall each day - surely a must see trip with your camera or video ?
For the more energetic .... Siam Park features a water park and is ideal for those with a young at heart spirit or those with children. Previous guests at my apartment have recommended it as a fabulous day out. See www.siampark.net.
You can find kite surfing, golf, rock climbing, rambling, swimming, scuba diving, parascending, banana boats and boat trips and fishing excursions out of Los Cristianos harbour.
'The Golden Mile' is just a short walk from the apartment. Here you will find a wide range of shops, restaurants and the popular lights, music and fountain show opposite the theatre/opera house...just a few minutes from the apartment. Use the map above to zoom in and explore the area.
There is also Harry's jazz, a fantastic Italian and Indian restaurant both with seating outside and overlooking the theatre/opera house - plenty to watch whilst you relax and have fun.
Gucci, Prada, Mango and Zara are amongst the many shops to be found (tax free). There are lots of high-value branded shops in the area which always attract plenty of evening shoppers both local and tourists. Plenty of cafes and restaurants offer large comfy sofas and seating outside whilst you sip your chilled cava or cup of tea over a fantastic meal enjoyed with friends and family whilst you watch the world go by.
The local restaurant and cafe staff are always friendly and extremely polite and seem to really value your visit. They particularly enjoy helping families with children feel relaxed and relish in offering their advice on local menues.
Los Cristianos was once a small fishing town but has grown to accommodate tourists with restaurants, cafes and shops. The whole area has seen a number of improvements over the years including the revamping of walkways and pavements, the influx of restaurants to take the place of loud bars and clubs, and a number of well known Brands and shops (Prada, Mango, Zara).
Worth a visit to see the old style restaurants, shops and beach. Look out for the volley ball competitions and other sporting events on the beach at Los Cristianos. The harbour has colourful fishing boats, Fred Olsen ferries and the cruise ships. You can also book your excursions here. There are other beaches in the area suitable for surfing along from the apartment towards Las Americas.
There is plenty to do - walking, relaxing at a pavement restaurant, trampolining, jet ski-ing, parascending, snorkelling and scuba diving.
Las Vistas beach is one of the best in the area and is just a few minutes walk from the apartment. There are other beaches near the apartment.. just walk to the sea and turn left or right. The sea is beside you at all times.
There are bike hire places for those with higher energy levels. There are also motor mobility scooters for those who are less energetic. Golf Las Americas is also near the apartment and offers excellent competition level facilities. El Medano has kite-surfing all year and is worth checking on 'Google'.
There are dozens of things to do and see in the local area and the whole of the Island. Use Google to find activities which suit your particular needs.
