Apartment | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Casa Margareta is located in the most idyllic of settings. Situated in a small hamlet overlooking Canos on the edge of a magical umbrella pine forest, it has extensive views through a verdant landscape to the sea and the historic lighthouse of Trafalgar.
We provide our guests with a unique experience. The tranquility of the natural surroundings makes it a great choice for that relaxing 'get away from it all' holiday and yet the summer 'buzz' of the beach and Canos village is just 5 mins away. The apartment offers the best in contemporary design, facilities and comfort .
The large airy open plan living/dining/kitchen area is stylishly furnished with a mix of the modern, vintage and ethnic. A glass wall of four panels, ensures the room is filled with light and warmth, allowing the outside-in. These glass patio doors open onto a large covered terrace which has been furnished to create an outdoor living area with a fabulous L shaped sofa for relaxing, wooden table and chairs for dining and lovely views to the garden, the rural landscape and the sea beyond. There is also an open garden terrace made of rustic railway sleepers which is great for sunbathing ( 2 sun-beds) and the perfect place to sip those sundowners.??
The garden is very special and one of the highlights of staying at Casa Margareta. It has been imaginatively landscaped with different sized pebbles, wooden posts and sculptures and Mediterranean architectural planting. A large palm tree is the focus in one corner, leading the eye down towards the sea in the distance. All the neighboring houses have large, rural gardens too, and so do not impinge on each other in any way. Our hamlet was a farm only 40 years ago and the rural atmosphere remains intact. The immediate surroundings are green all year round and the bird and plant life are always vibrant. A great location for nature lovers.
So chill for sure, but we are also ideally located for a wonderful variety of activities, culture and adventure. Walking, cycling or even horse-riding in the forest; visit one of the many charming Andalusian/Moorish villages nearby; a day out at the historical cities of Jerez, Cadiz, El Puerto de Santa Maria, Tarifa... etc etc or a simple stroll down to Canos beach to take in the spectacle of the mountains of Morocco across the water.

The Costa de la Luz region
The Costa de la Luz / Coast of Light is celebrated for its natural beauty, its unspoilt beaches, protected nature reserves, its bright vivid light, all year round sunshine and temperate climate.
Its rich history dates back to 1200 BCE with Cadiz ,the capital of our province being the oldest city in Europe, having been founded by the Phoenicians. The Cadiz coastline bordering the Atlantic boasts 200km of stunning beaches with fine golden sands, whilst sparkling white washed villages built by the Moors can be found both here and further inland. Almost all the villages along the coast have lived by fishing, though tourism is increasingly becoming an important source of revenue.
Los Canos de Meca
Canos is renowned for its beautiful and unspoiled, spacious beaches, particularly the sheltered cove of La Pirata beach, all backed by the heights of the natural pine forest of La Brena. Beach life to suit everyone includes family beaches, nude beaches, chiringuito beach bars, golden sand dunes covered in plant life, rock pools to delight the children, and of course Trafalgar lighthouse with its lagoons, where the famous battle took place. ??
Los Canos de Meca was named by the Moors for the natural springs that flow down the cliffs along the beaches and for the fact that they thought it so beautiful - they called it Meca. The weather is clement all year round, nice and hot in the summer ,and particularly attractive in mid winter when Northern Europe is usually miserable.
??Los Canos whilst a sleepy village out of season, this small off the beaten track location becomes a trendy summer hot spot with its hippy chic restaurants and bars. It attracts kite, wind and board surfers all year round as well as nature lovers with the great walks to be had along the cliffs.,the beaches and the salt marshes. Some of the nearest towns/pueblos are Barbate, a typical Spanish fishing pueblo of strong Andalusian character with a great daily market -10 mins by car, and Vejer, a beautiful hilltop white Moorish village with excellent restaurants -15 mins by car . Montenmedio- an international golf course is only 15 mins drive. The historic towns of Cadiz, Jerez,Seville,Tangiers,Tarifa, El Puerto de Santa Maria are all within easy reach for a great day out.
