Home description

It's hard to believe that you are in the perfect Los Angeles location- close to all of the studios, Malibu, the Westside and the Valley. It is just miles from either LAX or Burbank Airport and a beautiful drive along Sunset Boulevard to the beach in Malibu. The home is set into the hillsides, with greenery views, terraced garden and darting hummingbirds.

It is never boring with Jim Morrison's house down the street and Harry Houdini's nearby. There's a fantastic vintage Canyon Country Store at the end of the street for snacks, meals (they have a deli) and groceries. If you don't feel like taking the walk, they also deliver. Housed under the Country Store is the Italian restaurant PACE.

At PACE you are likely to bump into someone you have seen on the silver screen, at a concert or your television set. If you would like to enjoy this restaurant, make sure to make sure to reserve a table, especially after 6pm on most nights, as its a busy place, even without any advertising.

The California region

Almost any time of the year is the right time to go to Los Angeles; the climate is mild and pleasant year-round. Contrary to popular belief, Los Angeles does have seasons. Winter brings crisp, sunny, unusually smogless days from about November to May.

Although this takes in the rainy season, December to April, the storms are usually brief, and afterwards the skies are brilliant. Of course, the nearby mountains are glorious in winter, perfect for skiing. However, dining alfresco, bike riding, sailing, catching a concert under the stars–these are the domain of Los Angeles summers.

Summers are virtually rainless, leading to the occasional days of air-quality alerts. Prices skyrocket and reservations are a must when tourism peaks from July through early October.

Climate
Southern California is a temperate area: the Pacific Ocean is the primary moderating influence. In addition, mountains along the north and east sides of the Los Angeles coastal basin act as buffers against the extreme summer heat and winter cold of the desert and plateau regions.

Mild sea breezes and winds from the interior can mix to produce a variety of weather conditions; an unusual aspect of the Los Angeles climate is the pronounced difference in temperature, humidity, cloudiness, fog, rain, and sunshine over short distances.

Rule of thumb, particularly in spring and summer, is that the San Fernando Valley (Burbank, North Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Van Nuys, etc.) will be hotter than the Beverly Hills/Hollywood/Mid-Wilshire/downtown area, while the coastal areas (Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice, etc.) will be cooler. Late spring brings "June gloom," when skies tend to be overcast until afternoon at he beach cities.

Very bright (with many windows, French doors and skylight), beautifully furnished and decorated home located in the Hollywood Hills on Kirkwood.

Tri-level home with two bedrooms and two baths plus an office with futon for additional sleeping. Gorgeous, private, and terraced patio on the upper level through French doors off the first bedroom, as well as an additional patio with patio seating and table for four.

Floors: upper level living room and bedrooms are hard wood and downstairs kitchen and office area gorgeous rock floors. Laundry room with washer and dryer. High ceilings throughout, wood beamed ceilings in kitchen, lots of windows and french doors.

French doors in bedroom one (as well as skylight and picture window), living room and kitchen. Balconies off kitchen. Queen-size bed in one bedroom, California King sized bed in other, plus full size futon in office for additional sleeping.

Tucked into the hillside, off famous Laurel Canyon, is this fanciful New York gallery style home. There is an appealing interplay of levels, textures, and decor.

The kitchen and eating area have four barstools with black granite counter tops and centre island. The living room is in shades of earth and white with dark wood accents and neutral furniture with a picture window with a view of greenery covered hillside, French doors with a balcony with view of the large pine and surrounding hills (at times, even deer).

One of the bedrooms is in sea foam green and white (California King Size) with two sets of windows and a zen atmosphere. The other is (Queen Size) with bookshelves covering one wall, a picture window and french doors and additional windows with a view of trees and greenery.

The wood deck off of this bedroom lets you enjoy the darting of hummingbirds while you sit at the tile bistro table or rest in the hammock. Or, sit in the secluded terraced garden top hammock chair in the midst of wild canyon setting. Come up the stairs and experience the Laurel Canyon of California Dreamin'.

If you cancel, we will do our best to rebook for you. Refund will be based on days rebooked, if any, minus a 15% fee. Keep in mind that you are booking a home, not a hotel, and we only have two homes available.

Once you book, all prospective guests look elsewhere once they see your booked dates have "gone red". It is also a hassle to un-book a house and release dates/ promote again. So please, make sure that you are committed to renting before booking one of our homes.
