The resort lies just 25 mins drive from the beautiful cosmopolitan city of Murcia with its many restaurants, tapas bars, designer clothes shops, baroque cathedral and bull fighting ring and the largest shopping mall in Europe.
Going South is Cartagena that sits on the Costa Calida within Murcia. Despite the scruffy views as you enter the city, you will find within, a wealth of history and beautiful architecture. Along the port area which is used by the Navy, there are an array of restaurants when you can sit and relax around the harbour. You also have the Roman Amphitheatre plus many other historic sites to explore.
Torrevieja is within a 20 minute drive and is surrounded by salt lakes which are home to a variety of wildlife including pink flamingos which are protected within the La Mata nature reserve. The town has a large marina, fun fair, promenade which is bustling from early evening with street artists and stalls, a harbour walk and abundant bars, shops and restaurants.

The Costa Calida/Murcia region
Los Alcazares is a small typically Spanish town located on the Mar Menor which is renowned for its temperate climate, long sandy beaches and calm shallow sea.
The house is situated in a garden complex on the outskirts of town, only 500 metres from the beach with promenade, beach bars and restaurants, still unspoilt by tourism.

The House is very close to supermarkets and shops, with local markets on Tuesdays and Saturdays and whilst a car is not necessary you may like to rent one for a few days to explore the area. The complex has a large private pool and garden for sunbathing.
There are many golf courses minutes drive to the north and south of the town and the exclusive La Manga club 20 minutes drive to the south. La Manga resort is half an hour drive away on the opposite side of Mar Menor, or take a boat trip to one of the islands for a meal.
The port city of Cartagena is only 15 miles south. Alicante airport is a 50-minute drive from the house whilst Murcia / San Javier airport, which has flights from most major UK airports is only 3 miles away.
The excellent Mercadona supermarket, located at the start of a pedestrian complex which leads to the sea, is only five minutes' stroll away.
The beach is 10 minutes' stroll away through the complex, which boasts shops, bars and excellent restaurants - with more opening almost every month. A lovely walk along the wide beachfront promenade takes you into the town centre of Los Alcazares, which still retains its Spanish atmosphere. Here you will find more excellent shops, bars and restaurants.
