The Murcia region

Although the Costa Calida is relatively unknown there´s lots to see and do. With more than 315 sunny days a year the region is the perfect destination for people who love sunbathing. The winters are mild, with minimum temperatures of 17 degrees celsius. Besides sunbathing on one of the many sandy beaches, you can also sail, scuba-dive, or practice other watersports or even try one of the healing mudbaths at Lo Pagan. In addition the area is full of culture if you just take a visit to the ancient cities of Murcia Town and Cartegena.

Murcia is a 40 min drive; it is the Capital city of the region. It has many features such as a cathedral, ‘New' and 'Old' town, Modern shops, and also a zoo and a water park,

Cartagena is a 20 min drive away. This used to be an Old naval port. It boasts a Castle, Roman ruins, many shops in both the 'Old' Town and 'New' town. Whilst there, you can take a boat trip, or do the "historical walk". There are many great tapas bars and a selection of excellent restaurants.

Los Alcazares

Los Alcazares is situated in the Murcia region of South-Eastern Spain, also known as the Costa Calida- The Warm Coast. The town sits on the western shore of the Mar Menor, a saltwater lagoon separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a 22km long strip of land called La Manga. The Mar Menor is well known for its "healing properties", and reported to be the healiest resort on the Mediterranean.

5 mins drive from the village of Lomas Del Rame, will take you to the centre of Los Alcazares and the town of Torre Pacheco. There are several supermarkets and banks within both towns. Local restaurants offer a good variety of food, from typically Spanish to Asian, Chinese and India, together with several English restaurants. The fertile countryside keeps the local markets well stocked with bundles of fresh produce, which take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

For our younger guests the 'Aquapolis' Water Park is approx 30 mins drive north of the resort in Torrevieja. Go-Cart tracks are located at Los Alcazares and La Manga, as well as a mini golf for the really young in Los Alcazares. And there are 7 km of slopping beaches ideal for children in Los Alcazarea.

With around 19 active courses in the area and around 30 under construction, Golf is high on the agenda. All have fantastic views and several being championship courses. Villa Martin, Las Ramblas, Campoamor, La Finca and the championship courses at La Manga to name a few. The Challenging course of Serena is only a 5 minute walk, with its 16 out of 18 holes with a water theme.

The beautiful blue flag beaches at Los Alcazares are only 5 minutes drive or if feeling energetic a 15 min bicycle ride. The town of Los Alcazares was afforded municipal autonomy on the 13th of October 1983 and in celebration of this the town puts on a week long outdoor party featuring live music, shows and spectacular fireworks displays. The last 3 days of March sees Los Alcazares take on a medieval flavour with a large medieval market and numerous events. Throughout the last 2 weeks of August the European countries gather to display their folklore, handicrafts and prepare gastronomic feasts from local produce.

For those Bowling enthusiasts the area now supports 2 separate clubs of its own. In recent years Bowlers have passed this area by, going on to the main three principle Bowling zones in Spain, Malaga, Almeria and Alicante. Now we have 2 reputable clubs - Country Bowls Club & La Manga Bowls Club. More information can be found via the following links.

"Lovely Villa"

My Daughter and I stayed in the villa for a week, we had a wonderful time the villa has everything you could want it was like home from home. The villa is excellent condition and a lovely size, would be excellent for a family. The pool is also a good size, we walked to the beach most days this takes about 30 mins but worth it as the beach is outstanding with the added bonous of many bars, we went to the square in the evening's there are many resturants to choose from. I would recommend a car if you want to see more of murcia. Just have to say thank you to Deborah you were a good help.

"Great value, well presented villa"

I stayed here for 10 days, the property is a reasonable drive/taxi from the airport and in a nice quiet spot. There is a local shop nearby as well as a quiet local bar serving speciality local drinks and local beers which was a perfect way to spend an evening.
The beach and main shops were again a short drive away, and not an unpleasant walk unless it's very hot! The town itself is lovely and clean with plenty of restaurants to suit all tastes and a nice beach.
The villa was in immaculate condition and a great size, although it was just 2 of us a family would have more than enough room. Nice size lounge if the evenings cooled I'd imagine and a well fitted kitchen.
Spent most of the holiday in the private pool which was excellent and a terrace area which provided shade as well if needed. Bedroom we had also had a balcony - perfect for breakfast!
All in all great value for a spotless villa and far enough away from the town so it's not always noisy, but still close enough to get there. Highly recommended.

"Ideal for a family holiday"

Whilst we had a very enjoyable holiday it was felt that to go into town a car would be advisable if you have small children in your party as we did. Beach was ideal and very safe for the children. Restaurants were children friendly and abundant in the town and value for money. The villa was very clean with ample and good facilities also well positioned in a nice area

"Enjoyed our stay - well equipped villa, sandy beaches and bars close by"

Villa very comfortable and clean in a quiet location. Lots of markets to visit. The beaches were very accessible with lots of restaurants and bars along the promenade. Many historical places to visit not too far from the villa via the motorway.

"Best holiday of our lives,we did not want to go home"

We came here for 2 weeks for our honeymoon with our 3 children aged 16,13 and 8.
Such a beautiful villa with all you need for your stay.We enjoyed having a barbeque in the evenings and splashing in the pool.(just the right size)We did have to walk approx 20 mins to the beach, and a further 25 mins along the seafront (but we knew this before we booked)to the main square which have numerous restaurants/bars and supermarket.(which is very good value for money)And english speaking postoffice. There is an internet cafe a couple of doors away from macedonea (supermarket). They did not charge us for the use only asked us to buy a drink. We recommend mamma mia restaurant in the square opposite the supermarket. And also henrys bar along the square.Just near the villa towards serena golf hotel there is a small shop just opposite the hotel. There is even a small bar across the road from the villa.I would recommed this villas location to families with older children because of the walking but if you have a car then perfect. We managed to walk it everday and would definately visit again.Deborah who we booked with is lovely and very helpful. She helped us on our stay if we needed to know anything. Also we booked our transport through deborah from the airport with a guy called bodo he is german but speaks good english and he is also very nice.We used him for our taxi needs and his prices are very reasonable.Taxis from or too the square would be around 10 euros but because there was 5 of us it would mean us getting two taxis as they will not take more than 4 people. So we called bodo who could take 5 of us.I really do reccomend this villa.I enjoyed it so much i really did not want to come back. ;-) 10/10.Thank you deborah and bodo for everything you did for us.x
