Casa La Mata is a spacious, well decorated 2 bedroom penthouse apartment nicely situated on a stunning 5 star golf resort. Extremely well equipped and includes everything you need for a perfect self-catering holiday. The property is designed throughout with comfort in mind and has full air-conditioning and central heating.
Our apartment has one double bedroom with en-suite and great pool views and one twin bedroom which has beautiful views to the golf course and surrounding area. Underground parking facility and lift access straight to our front door.
Leading from the living room is a spacious balcony with pool view, furnished with table and chairs enabling you to dine al fresco. Access to our very large fully furnished rooftop solarium with magnificent views across the golf course and Mar Menor is via outside steps to the side of our front door which is gated for added security.

Our penthouse is ideally situated just a 5 minute walk through lovely grounds to the clubhouse and golf course. It has easy access to all amenities including many local markets and is only a 5 minute drive from the small town of Los Alcazares and the many blue flag surrounding beaches. There are numerous bars and restaurants available along the adjacent promenade to sit back and enjoy the views.
This quiet and peaceful location is only a short drive to many larger towns and cities such as Alicante, Murcia and Cartagena. This area in Spain is a real hidden gem just waiting to be explored.
Roda Golf also has a superb Beach Club on the La Manga strip open during the summer months where you can catch a boat and sail over the Mar Menor to reach it.

The Costa Calida region
The Costa Calida is located in the south-east corner of Spain and incorporates the Mar Menor, Europe's biggest salt-water lagoon created by the split of land known as La Manga del Mar Menor. During the hot summer months, the water temperature of the Mar Menor rises to that of a warm bath and is renowned for its therapeutic properties for ailments such as rheumatism and arthritis but equally it is the ideal place to take part in diving, sailing, windsurfing, water and jet skiing as well as many other sports or if you prefer just lazing on the beach.
The average annual temperature in the region is approximately 20 degrees centigrade and the sea temperature rarely falls below 18 degrees. Murcia is known as the "Garden of Europe" but also has stunning mountainous natural parks and beautiful scenery.
The historic cities of Cartegena and Murcia can be reached by car in approximately 20 minutes drive from Roda Golf and both offer great International and Local culture and history as well as fantastic shopping malls at the new centre of Neuvo Condominio in Murcia (close to the stadium of La Liga Real Murcia). There are numerous restaurants of all types as well as entertainment for the children including water parks and Terra Mitica (about an hour away near Benidorm).
The nearby town of Los Alcazares is only 2km away from the resort with a wide range of shops and restaurants. The beaches and towns of San Pedro, Lo Pagan, San Javier and of course La Manga are all very close by. If you wish to travel slightly further afield you can visit some very exciting places like Alicante, Mazarron, Torrevieja, Orihuela, Benidorm, Villajoyosa, Elche and Calpe to name but a few. Travelling a couple of hours or so further you could reach Madrid, Valencia or Barcelona. The city of Granada with the famous Al Hambra Palace and the ski resort and mountains of the Sierra Nevada are some 200km North West. The road network in this area of Spain is superb making access to these places relatively easy.
The Los Alcazares / Roda Golf area
The resort is situated in the traditional medieval style village of Roda approximately 1.5km from the golden sandy beach of Los Narejos. This blue flag beach has an attractive promenade close to the town centre with many top class restaurants along the way. Activities offered here include sailing, kite surfing , fishing trips as well as safe bathing and beach relaxation. There is a sailing school and kite surfing school from which equipment may be hired and lessons booked.
The town of Alcazares offers facilities such as banks, supermarkets, hairdressers and wonderful restaurants. Los Alcazares lies next to the Mar Menor, which is Europe's largest salt-water lagoon with more than 43 miles of coastline. The water is several degrees (8*) warmer than the nearby Mediterranean. The Mar Menor has a high salt content, which makes it easier to float in, and is rich in minerals, many of which are believed to be very therapeutic. A visit to the mud baths in Lo Pagan or the Thalasia massage centre are a must to enjoy some relaxation. Many water sports are practice in this area.
Centro Mediterraneo is a large shopping centre with many shops including the large do-it-yourself store Leroy Merlin which can be easily reached via the AP-7 exit jctn 191. Dos Mares is a slightly smaller shopping centre in Lo Pagan but well worth a visit. Both centres have large supermarkets plus many designer shops. If you decide to travel into Murcia you can drive to the big shopping centre or Ikea which is a junction just off the AP-7 and take a taxi into the city. The Spanish have an excellent road network making it very simple to travel.
You can take cheap internal flights to Barcelona, Madrid or Marbella. You could also choose to take the new high speed trains available or why not take a ferry across the waters of the Mar Menor to our Private Beach Club or the world famous La Manga. If you enjoy a good game of football then why not book tickets to see Murcia F.C. play against teams like Barcelona or Real Madrid. Fiestas are a very important part of Spain and the Spanish way of life. They are very colourful, vibrant, more often than not very noisy, often chaotic and always great fun, so why not try one out.
Another thing the Spanish love is their markets where they can stock up on fresh produce, clothes, leather goods and shoes amongst many other things. No matter where you are, you can be sure there will be a local market going on somewhere nearby. Come and join in the fun!
Roda Golf Beach Club is located on the popular La Manga strip which divides the Mar Menor from the Mediterranean sea, this unique facility is for the exclusive use of owners and guests. Roda Golf and Beach Resort is perfectly located only 7 minutes drive from Murcia (San Javier) airport where many budget airlines fly daily from all around the UK and continental Europe.
Alternatively you may use the same low-cost airlines to fly into Alicante airport which is approximately 50 minutes drive to the resort. Full directions to Roda will be supplied on booking.
We recommend car hire from the airport but it is not essential as we can arrange pick-up for you. We always book our car hire with Goldcar Rental and you can collect your car keys as you wait for your luggage inside the arrival hall. We can supply further car rental details on request.

Could not fault this apartment at all, modern,clean and comfortable with large private roof top terrace with stunning views of the golf course. The pool was lovely too and had to ourselves most of the time. We would walk to the square at night however was a little dark walking over the bridge so small torch would be recomended so you are easily spotted by traffic. (we used ones on our phones). The restuarant / bar Campbells nearby serves good food and the staff are very friendly .The golf club house is also welcoming and has wi-fi if needed, Would stay here as first choice in Roda. |

Just a wee note to say a GIANT thank you to June and Ian for renting their lovely apartment to us for 11 days. Car deffo needed - exately 1 hr from Alicante - would deffo recomend shoping around for car hire as there is a new thing about getting the car 1/2 empty and returning it empty - (ya just cant do that) so we were able to get other car company that did 1/2 get and 1/2 return. The apartment was simply wonderful - the Air Con was undenyiable the best we ever had - lovely 2 bed and 2 bath. Patio was fab and as for the roof top it was georgeous in the evening and a great place to dry wet gear. Pool was never crowded - very quite at night - which was a blessing. Went to several beaches during our stay each were great. Went to the free mud baths which were hilarious and enjoyable to watch. You can get every thing you want in local shop - no need to bring a thing. The beach chairs etc from the apartment fitted into the car no problem and were a great asset for the beach. Restaurants all lovely and great value. Looking forward to going back again. |
