The Costa Calida region


Although the Costa Calida is relatively unknown there´s lots to see and do. With more than 315 sunny days a year the region is the perfect destination for people who love sunbathing. The winters are mild, with minimum temperatures of 17 degrees Celsius. Besides sunbathing on one of the many sandy beaches, you can also sail, scuba-dive, or practice other watersports or even try one of the healing mudbaths. In addition the area is full of culture if you just take a visit to the ancient cities of Murcia Town and Cartegena.
The Los Alcazares / Pueblo Patricia area
Los Alcazares is located 10 minutes drive from Murcia Airport (San Javier) and 50 minutes from Alicante Airport. Numerous low cost airlines fly into the region from all over the UK & Ireland. Although a car is not essential, it is recommended for exploring the surround areas, local cities and places of interest.
There are several supermarkets and banks all within walking distance. Local restaurants offer a variety of food, from typically Spanish to Asian, Chinese and India, together with several English restaurants. The fertile countryside keeps the local markets well stocked with bundles of fresh produce, which takes place on Tuesday and Saturdays.

This complex is excellent with three great pools (all have kiddy pools attached) and a relaxed and comfortable 'pool side ambience'. there is no fighting for sunbed space, plenty of room for all and we were there main weeks in August. The appartment was clean and functional. not 5 star, but had aicon (essential), 32" LCD tv and uk cable channels. kithcen had all you need, and hot water was fine - no problems at all. It may not be decorated 'modern' but how much time d you spend there anyway ? it was perfect for our needs. We have 2 kids (10 & 7) and the key to any of our family holidays is "kids are happy, i'm happy" and they had a whale of a time. plenty of other families and kids who all got on very well. holiday tips, restaurant recommendations etc were constantly passed around the pool. What ever happens make sure you do El Patio II. absolutely superb Spanish restaurant - yu will not be disapointed ! we went there 3 times. and if you have a few more quid - Il Divo is also excellent. the new 'flavour' restaurant oposite ii DIvo is equally as good (if not better) but cheaper. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LEG OF LAMB FOR 2 !!!! Jaw dropping ! Again you are maybe a 5minute walk from the MAin strip in Los Alcazeres and you just don't need a car here - fly into Murcia and its 10mins in a cab (or better still organise a lift from the owner - 25 euro's return!) . one word of warning on the beach would be 'watch out for the jellyfish'. apparently the nets were down when we were there and the jellyfish are just floating around everywhere - the locals didn't seem to care and i never saw anyone get stung but they were a little off-putting to the kids - but i think we were just unlucky on the wees we were there. Will i go back ? yes. it's the best Spanish family resourt i've found that's still 'unspoilt' and is a reasonable priced yet friendly place |
