About the home
Beautiful, luxuriously furnished garden/ground floor apartment, with terraces leading out onto communal gardens and swimming pool.Terraces get afternoon sun, while rooms remain cool. Two bedrooms, one double with en suite bathroom, one with twin beds which can form a double. Separate shower room, kitchen and large living/dining area, with seating for 4. Outside dining furniture and comfortable loungers. The living room has a large flat screen TV with DVD player and a large selection of DVDs and CD player.
The apartment has luxury quality furnishings and comfortable beds with plenty of kitchen equipment to ensure a home from home for your holiday. This is our own holiday home, so we have furnished and equipped it for the ideal holiday break. The apartment is spacious and airy, with air conditioning for the summer months and heating for cooler evenings. An information pack in the apartment ensures that you have ideas for eating and sight seeing, and our management company are very friendly and can help out with transport and information about the local area, as they live on Roda themselves. Tours to local areas can be arranged, as can golf to many other local courses. The area is fast becoming a golfers mecca.
From June to September visitors can have access to the fantastic Roda Beach club, situated on the strip of land that separates the Mediterranean from the inland sea known as the Mar Menor. A stunning building ( it featured in a Bond movie, see if you can work out which one !) with beautiful pool, bar and restaurant, a restful day can be spent.
On-site, the fantastic Roda golf club house is a lovely place to socialise all day and evening, whether you are a golfer or not, with a restaurant serving reasonably priced food and drinks and great terraces overlooking the golf course. Free Wi-Fi is available at the club house. There is also a new shop on site supplying usual supplies of food, newspapers and magazines and fresh bread and pastries and home delivery is also now available. Tennis and paddle courts now available on site for hire.
Golfers will enjoy the Dave Thomas designed challenging golf course, which has recently received PGA training recognition and is fast becoming a "must play" course in this area. Driving range and teaching facilities on site. Within easy driving range, other fantastic golf courses are avaiable to make Roda a great golfing base, all year round. For the non golfer, the area provides superb water sport and other leisure facilites. The nearby City of Cartegna and the city of Murcia are both fascinating places to visit, in this largely unknown area of Spain.
For shoppers, a massive new mall has just been opened close to Murcia, which is said to be one of the largest in the Mediteranean area. Also the wonderful water and animal parks, Terra Mitrica and Terra Natura have opened in the surrounding areas, all within about one hour of the apartment. These are fantastic days out for all the family.

A fully fitted modern kitchen with oven and hob, fridge freezer and washing machine. Also, kettle, toaster, coffee percolator and microwave. Full set of crockery, utensils and glass ware, as well as a cool box for picnics and plenty of storage space.
Living Room / Dining Area:
Spacious living area with L-shaped sofa, with large patio doors out onto the terrace. Flat screen TV with DVD and CD player. Lots of DVDs, including lots of kids films for siesta time. Dining room table with 4 chairs.
Main Bedroom:
Double bedroom with King size bed ( 150 cm )and plenty of wardrobe space, with side tables. Patio doors onto a terrace onto the gardens and pool. En suite bathroom with shower over. All towels ( except beach towels) included.
Twin Bedroom:
Twin beds and wardrobe with plenty of hanging space as well as bedside table.
Shower Room:
Shower cubicle, with toilet and hand basin.
Outside:
Parking outside apartment, terrace overlooking communal gardens and pool, no long trek down stairs to get to the pool here! Dining furniture and loungers to chill out in the sun.
OTHER - air conditioning, heating, linen and towels ( save for beach towels ) provided. Travel cot and high chair available. ( Bring own bedding for travel cot.) There are lots of children's play areas dotted around the complex for younger children.
There are also tennis and padel courts available at Roda for hire.

The terrace, which is straight off the living room ( NOT the case in all the ground floor apartments at Roda), leads out onto shared gardens with palm trees and planting as well as the shared freeform pool. The pool is about 20-25m from the apartment and most of the pool can be seen from the terrace. See if you can spot our local bird from the terrace in the morning - the Hoopoe - a lovely and unexpected surprise to watch out for!
PLEASE NOTE, as for all the pools at Roda, there is no fence around the pool and we do not have railings around the terrace, so parents of young children should ensure that they are supervised at all times. There are no life guard facilities in any of the pools at Roda.
The apartment is on phase 3 of the development.

Usual vacating time for apartment is 11am, but this can be flexible depending on other bookings, we always try to be accomadating, just call us to discuss. Payment by PayPal can be accepted for last minute bookings ( an extra charge may be applicable ) please contact us to discuss.
Conditions
The apartment is on the ground floor and as such can be accessed by a wheel chair, with a sloping path up to the front door, and the whole apartment is on one level. However, there is a small difference in level between terrace and garden, and there are steps or a slope in the garden down into the pool.
The Costa Calida region
The Costa Calida or Warm Coast lies below the Costa Blanca south of Alicante. This is a less well known region of South East Spain, containing many superb beaches and lovely scenery. The Capital City of the region, Murcia, set in the mountains is an unexplored treasure.On the coast can be found the ancient Roman port of Cartagena, as well as some beautiful areas of beaches and areas of wildlife interest.
Cartagena is a harbour founded in 227 BC by the Cartagenians. The city contains many Roman ruins, archaeological finds and Museums. A boat trip can be taken aroung the harbour or out along the coast. Great for shopping and local festivals. Lots of Restaurants in the Harbour area (20 minutes drive).
Lo Pagan is situated about 15 minutes by car from the apartment and has the largest area of open-air thereaputic mud baths in Europe known as the Las Charcas de Las Salinas. They are recommended for all types of skin conditions and rheumatism. Combined with the waters of the Mar Menor which have therapeutic properties due to the contents of mineral salts and iodine and a health days visit here is recommended. Also ideal for swimming and boating.
Santiago De La La Ribera has great blue flag beaches and an extensive promenade, with lovely beachside restaurants.
The Mar Menor is separated from the Mediterranean by a narrow strip of land (14 miles wide) called the LA MANGA del Mar Menor. The strip is about half an hours car drive and will also get you to La Manga Golf Resort (3 courses).

Calblanque - a beautiful unspoilt regional park is one of the few area of the Murcian coastline that still retains its stunning natural beauty with arid mountains, dunes, long sandy beaches and is home to interesting vegetation and birds e.g. Flamingo, Heron & Stork. We've spent truly beautiful days over the years exploring this area and would highly recommend it, whether you are a nature lover looking for something special or a sun worshiper wanting to get away from the crowds.
Murcia is a university city and in its old winding streets or modern shopping areas are a wealth of lively bars, good shopping and restaurants that are vibrant with life. It is described as one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. There is a great deal of Moorish influence in the city, not least its walls. (30 minutes drive)
Just over 2 and a half hours drive away is the third largest city in Spain, Valencia. This is a stunning city to visit, with an historic old town and a fantastic new City of Arts and Culture - see some of our photos of our recent trip there. The aquarium is almost worth the trip itself, with stunning double height tanks and unusual exhibits.

The Los Alcazares / Roda Golf area
Los Alcazares, the nearest town to Roda Golf and Beach resort, is a lively Spanish town, with shops, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants to appeal to all tastes. It has a long tree lined promenade alongside the long stretch of beach next to the Mar Menor, with lots of beach cafes. This is a popular resort with the Spanish themselves and in summer months the promenade is a lively family attraction after a day on the beach. Whilst there are plenty of restaurants and bars, there are few nightclubs in Los Alcazares.
Los Alcazares is situated on the Mar Menor, with fantastic water sports facilites available on the Mar Menor itself or along the nearby coastal areas. Superb diving, snorkelling, kayaking windsurfing and canoeing are all easily available on the Mar Menor and boat trips can be readily arranged locally. Other past times include horse riding, rock climbing and walking.
Roda Golf and Beach resort itself is a development built in the last ten years, based around a Dave Thomas designed 18 hole golf course. Our apartment is on the third phase of development, which may ultimately see a De Vere run luxury hotel and commercial centre.
The golf course is a PGA training centre and its driving range has up to the minute training aids and professional teaching staff for beginers and experienced golfers alike. There are currently lots of deals available for green fees, often including buggy hire, or an evening drink.
Other local courses include Villa Martin, La Manga, La Serena, La Finca and La Torre and many others to ensure that a varied golfing experience can be had in this fascinating area. Please email us for details of local deals. Our on site agents can arrange packages for trips out to the local courses.
The fantastic Roda club house is situated in the middle of the course and development, with stunning views from its first and second floor terraces and bars. A show kitchen serves the restaurant, where meals can be taken throughout the day and evening, making the club house a great place to socialise. The pro shop is also at the club house, where a round of golf can be arranged and golf supplies purchased. There are a number of local golf suppliers in the surrounding area as well. Deals including buggies or evening drink are often available.
In the summer months, a trip to the Beach club is highly recommended, which is on the La Manga strip. ( opening times and entry charges change yearly )

Many lo cost airlines fly into this area, including Ryan Air and Easy jet. The nearest airport is San Javier, Murcia airport, which is about 10 minutes drive from the apartment. Alicante airport is about a 50 minute drive away. Car hire is recommended for the apartment and plenty of car hire companies are based at both airports.

This apartment is everything you will need for a great, relaxing holiday. Spacious enough to sleep 5 (if one doesn't mind the sofa bed) and with a swimming pool effectively in your back garden, it is scrupulously clean, well appointed and tastefully decorated. For those really blistering days the aircon works wonderfully well. We have now stayed here twice as a family of five with three hungry teens and have found the local supermarkets to stock everything we needed to keep them happy. As well as being a short drive away (a car is recommended), they stock all the things us Brits normally eat but lots of stuff that's unfamiliar, if you are more adventurous! The local restaurants are plentiful and varied; in the town itself all alfresco dining is the norm in a lively atmosphere of people and outdoor entertainment. From the town the beaches are a short walk and are clean and spacious with plenty of bars and small restaurants. All in all, we've had two great holidays here and would thoroughly recommend it. |
