If you are a keen golfer then Roda is the ideal location for playing the numerous courses in the area. There are currently 10 courses within 20 minutes drive with a further 20 planned for the next 3 years.
From the established championship courses at La Manga and Villa Martin to the newer courses at Roda and La Serena, the choice is yours.

Just Chill....
If you are looking for a more relaxing holiday then Roda is ideal as the village is very quiet with no major roads nearby and no building work nearby to disturb you.
With over 300 days of sun each year, you can just lay back on the sun loungers and relax in almost guaranteed sunshine.
The fabulous beaches of the Mar Menor are only a few minutes drive for those who prefer to sunbathe on the beach.

The Costa Calida region

Roda is situated in the Murcia region of south east Spain, also known as the Costa Calida (warm coast). The local town of Los Alcazares (Los-Alcatha-Res) sits on the western side of the Mar Menor, an inland lagoon separated from the Mediterranean by a 13 mile long strip of land called La Manga (The Sleeve), famous for it's sporting complex and Golf courses.

Los Alcazares puts on an annual week long celebration during October featuring music, live shows and firework displays to celebrate it's municipal autonomy granted in 1983. During the last week of March there is a medieval market and a number events in celebration of the times of peace following the fight against invading Barbary pirates during the 15th century. The last 2 weeks of August the town hosts the "La Huerta" festival when people from throughout Spain and Europe display their traditional crafts and prepare large feasts.

The Mar Menor (Little Sea) is a salt-water lagoon of 128km sq with a sea temperature of 5 degrees above the Mediterranean. It is quite unknown to a lot of people and probably "Spain's best kept secret". The area enjoys an average of 320 days sunshine a year. The mineral-rich water of the Mar Menor is revered for its health-giving properties and is listed by the World Health Organisation as one of the healthiest places on earth. The town still has thermal baths, which have existed since Roman times. The bay is famous for visitors with rheumatic, arthritic and skin problems, at Lo Pagan on the northern shore there is a natural mud bath and it offers therapeutic results in comparison to the Black Sea.
The Mar Menor apart from being the biggest open air health spa in the world, is also considered as one of the best areas for regatta and certain water sports which can be practiced all year round.

Some of the best diving in Europe is to be experienced off Cabo De Palos, where a lighthouse marks the southern end of the Mar Menor.
It also offers countless possibilities for wind-surfers and every kind of sailor. There is very little movement and hardly any waves. There are several diving, sailing and canoe centres located around the Mar Menor so you are never far from a water sports centre.

The Los Alcazares / Roda area

Los Alcazares was afforded municipal autonomy on 13th October 1983 and in celebration of this the town puts on a week long outdoor party featuring live music, shows and spectacular firework displays. The last 3 days of March sees Los Alcazares take on a medieval flavour with a large medieval market and numerous events in recollection of the times of peace following the creation of effective defences against invasions of Barbary pirates during the 15th century. Throughout the last 2 weeks of August the town hosts the international celebration of La Huerta when groups representing market garden areas throughout Spain and other European countries gather to display their folklore, handicrafts and prepare gastronomic feasts from local produce.
The beautiful blue flag beach at Los Narejos is only 3km away and there are lots of other local beaches to visit. Los Alcazares offers seven kilometres of beaches from Los Narejos to Punta Brava. All these beaches are connected by means of a magnificent promenade. These are fully equipped with showers, fountains, pathways for the disabled and those with pushchairs, and they also cater for games and sports.

The property is within walking distance of a new 18 hole golf course at Roda Golf. There are currently 10 golf clubs within a 20 minute drive including Villa Martin, Las Ramblas, Campoamor, La Finca and the championship courses at La Manga. Many more are due to open soon.

The apartment was perfect with everything in it we needed. Two great bathrooms and fully equipped kitchen. Five of us slept, ate and lounged very comfortably! We loved the sun terrace. We cannot recommend any places to visit as we spent every day on the terrace or at the beach! The beach was ideal for our young daughter - with warm and shallow sea.

What a fantastic holiday. The apartment had everything we needed; air conditioning, ceiling fans in all rooms, TV, fully equipped, plenty of space and very clean. The sun terrace is great, so private and not overlooked at all. We have holidayed around the Malaga/Marbella area for the last few years, but this was much better. Murcia airport is far less busy than Malaga , it’s easy to pick the hire car up and hardly anything on the roads. The shops and Mar Menor are only a few minutes away and we loved Cartegena. Brilliant! Thanks very much, would love to visit again.

We loved the apartment, especially the roof terrace which we spent a lot
of time on catching the sun, it was also clean and tidy. The location was
excellent being within easy reach of a number of beaches by car the roads
were less busy than the UK - so getting about was easy.

Our second visit to your apartment and we enjoyed it even better than the first time. We didn't feel the need to venture very far as we were so relaxed, so the hire car was a bit of a waste - we could easily have holidayed without it and enjoyed walking into the town centre. There's a new Irish bar opened within 100 yards of the apartment ; Campbells, a great little place, welcoming, nice atmosphere, choice of beers and great food at realistic prices. The promenade alongside the Mar Menor at Los Alcazares is fantastic, we could walk up and down all day stopping at a few of the many bars along the way. Thanks very much once again, we would love to visit again.
