Roda Golf & Beach Resort
About the home
PENTHOUSE Our fully furnished penthouse apartment is on the more spacious and quieter Phase Three at Roda Golf and offers stunning views across the mountains, the Mar Menor, the olive and orange groves. The vast roof terrace has sun loungers, table and chairs for dining alfresco and a large pergola for protection against the mid-day sun. There is a second terrace off the lounge, again with table and chairs, which overlooks the shared pool ( useful if you want to keep an eye on the children!) and as with the roof terrace gets the sun from early morning.
The apartment is fully air conditioned together with central heating for any cooler evenings.Ideal for families,or couples, there is a double bedroom with en suite bath and shower room,a second bedroom with twin beds and a separate shower room, and a double sofa bed in the lounge. The separate kitchen is fully fitted and runs off the lounge. There is basement parking which not only offers security but keeps the car cool in high summer. Also a locked store room useful for golf clubs or bikes. We provide two bikes for use by our guests.
RODA GOLF & BEACH RESORT has it all.Famed for it's Dave Thomas designed 18 hole golf course with PGA Academy the resort also has the advantage of being only 1.5 kms from Los Alcazares and the beautiful safe beaches of the Mar Menor for bathing, water skiing, sailing and all water sports. And with an average of 320 days of sunshine a year whatever your leisure activity this is the place - of course you might just want to stay and sunbathe by the pool!
RODA GOLF is a secure gated resort, safe for children, divided into smaller communities with shared swimming pools, gardens and play areas all surrounding the stunning golf course. There are tennis courts, paddle tennis,5 a side pitches, basketball courts and a gym.The beautifully designed CLUBHOUSE, with pro- shop and wi fi, overlooks the course providing stunning views from it's terraces, bars and restaurants. From breakfast through to all day snacks,a light lunch or an a la carte dinner this is the heart of the resort. The rooftop bar features live music in the summer season.
There is a MINI MARKET on the resort open every day providing all of the basics including bread, wine ,beer and international newspapers DVD and book rentals. There are also numerous supermarkets and other shops close by in Los Alcazares.A car although not essential is a good idea and we can suggest hire companies. However taxi's are frequent and inexpensive and we also provide two bikes for the use of our guests.Additional bikes can be hired on-site and are a good way of getting around the resort and to the beach only 15 minutes away
Away from the Resort you will find the private BEACH CLUB on the eastern shore of the Mar Menor overlooking the Mediterranean. With it's own pool, changing rooms, bar and restaurant a trip here is a real treat - take the ferry across the Mar Menor or drive down the world famous La Manga strip.
ON ARRIVAL. If you arrive at San Javier (Murcia) airport you are only a few minutes away from Roda Golf by taxi or hire car. From Alicante or the new airport at Corvera then 30 - 45 minutes. On arrival at the Resort you will be met by a member of our on-site management team who will take you to the apartment hand over the keys and make sure you have everything you need.A "welcome pack" can be ordered in advance if required. The team have an office on Roda Golf and are there to provide any assistance during your stay and their local knowledge can really help you to get the most out of your holiday.

The Costa Calida region
THE REGION - Murcia on the climate blessed south-eastern Mediterranean coast of Spain known as the Costa Calida has been feeding the people of Europe for centuries because of the quality of it's citrus fruit, vegetables and seafood. As the region opens up to holiday makers they are not only discovering the climate and fantastic tradition of the cuisine but the beauty spots, the beaches, the towns and cities overflowing with historic cultural and architectural treasures. Here are some of the places you might want to visit.
Only 1.5km from Roda Golf is Los Alcazares (see below) on the western shore of the MAR MENOR ("Little Sea") a 170 sq km salt water lagoon - the largest in Europe - separated from the Mediterranean by a narrow strip of land known as the La Manga Strip. The famous American swimmer and MGM move star Esther Williams described the Mar Menor as the "largest swimming pool in the world"! It offers beautiful beaches, safe bathing and every type of water sport you can imagine. You can walk or cycle around most of the lagoon, never straying from the coast, and if all this activity produces any "aches and pains" head for the healing properties of the Las Salinas pools at Lo Pagan! Picturesque fishing villages along the coast have fabulous restaurants serving fresh seafood and other local delicacies and there are local markets on most days.
The regional capital city of MURCIA is a jewel and one of the fastest growing cities in Spain. It's history is everywhere with the foundation stone of the wonderful Cathedral being laid in 1388.There is an abundance of coffee shops, tapas bars, restaurants and great shopping for every budget. The ancient port of CARTAGENA goes back to Roman times and is a popular destination for private boats and yachts.Visit the amphitheatre or catch the international music festival held every July. CARAVACA DE LA CRUZ is designated as one of the worlds five holiest cities and high up in the mountains is LORCA one of the architectural glories of the region with a castle said to be one of the most picturesque in Spain.Alternatively visit the wide open spaces of the "VIA VERDE" cycle trail which runs along the entire north west of the region from Caravaca to Mula, a joy for walkers and cyclists alike, or go horse riding on the slopes of SIERRA DEL GAVILAN
The Los Alcazares / Roda Golf area
LOS ALCAZARES (pronounced los - alcatha - res) is only 1.5 km from Roda Golf on the beaches of the Mar Menor and has all the facilities you will need by way of tourist information, bus connections, car hire, supermarkets, petrol stations, shopping, cycle repairs etc etc. Plus fine bars and restaurants for every taste.
Stroll along the lovely promenade which runs the length of the town's shoreline or take a walk or a cycle north over the boardwalks through the nature reserve.Visit the newly built Cultural Centre with a 500 seat theatre and coming soon a Nautical School to be run by the council focusing on canoeing, windsurfing and kite boarding.
Los Alcazares loves festivals. On the last three days of March the town takes on a mediaeval look with markets and events to celebrate the times of peace which followed the creation of effective defences against the Barbary pirates of the 15th Century. For the last two weeks of August the festival of La Huerta (the fertile countryside) takes over when groups from throughout Spain display folklore, handicrafts and prepare feasts of local produce and in October a week long outdoor party of live music, shows and fireworks to celebrate the town becoming a municipal autonomy.

We spent a week here and had a wonderful stay. The apartment was imacculate and had everything we needed with a lovely town just a short distance away. The roof terrace was a bonus where we spent afternoons enjoying the sun while not in the pool. This apartment is ideal for both golfers and those just looking for some sun (like us). A lovely place! |
